    Condor D-Bolo Machete

Posted by Mike on 2nd Feb 2022

This is a much lighter knife than I was expecting, which in this case is a good thing. The 'bloodletter' groove reduces weight at the centre and keeps it focused at the tip, but not excessively so, which makes it weighty enough to do the heavier jobs effectively without tiring your hand. The weight balance means choking up on the choil and using it for finer work doesn't leave your hand aching. The handle is suitable for people with average sized hands wearing robust gloves. People with small hands or average hands using this knife bare-handed may find it a little uncomfortable. The handle allows for different grips for slashing, chopping or basic whittling, and the blade is wide enough that it could probably be comfortably used as a draw-knife too, although I haven't tested that. It arrived oiled and shaving sharp with a good quality leather sheath. I was going to buy the Condor Pack Golok but opted for this instead, and I'm glad that I did. The extra money is worth it. This knife has far more applications than the Pack Golok, which is a decent and robust chopper but feels a little slow and clumsy when compared to the D-Bolo.
