A piece of history comes to life! The Tirpitz, sister ship of the legendary Bismark, was the largest battleship ever launched by the German Navy. History tells of many attempts to destroy this mighty weapon loaded colossus. On November 12, 1944, the Tirpitz was hit by Western Allied bombing raids causing it to roll over and sink.Shortly after WWII a Norwegian specialised company began to explore the wreck to obtain the high alloy steel for civilian use.
Especially for Boker, Norwegian divers have now retrieved parts of the special armour of the Tirpitz from the Fjord. These pieces of living history are being exclusively forged by Boker`s Damascus forger into extraordinary blades with an exiting background. The "Great Pyramids" pattern, with more than 300 layers, adorns this blade and makes piece the highlight of any collection.The combination of the Tirpitz steel and carbon tool steels creates an extremely rugged Damascus steel, with a hardness of 61 HRC.
The handle, made of high strength AIMgSi1 aluminium is hardcoat anodised and provides a firm and secure grip. For the handle inlay Boker chose Walnut, which has a long history as shaft wood for German rifles due to its superior qualities. This eyecatching inlay features the original Tirpitz crest.
Handmade in Solingen, Germany it is supplied in a presentation case and is serial numbered.
