Extension knives have a long tradition in hunting. When folded, the handle covers exactly half of the cutting edge, while the other half extends beyond the handle. This means that the knife can be used for all ‘red work’ tasks such as gutting, skinning and chopping. When the knife is folded out, the blade length is ideal for capturing a wounded piece of game, which fortunately only happens in rare cases. Extension knives lock in both the open and closed position.
The Boker Plus Extension Knife is one of the rare, if not the only modern interpretation of an extension knife. The designer and constructor Wilfried Hein is hardly known, but is all the more creative when it comes to inventing special technical solutions.
The Extension Knife has a massive and bulky D2 blade that locks with a large cross bolt both when open and closed. The cross bolt can also be screwed into the handle without tools for even greater resilience both when fully open and when shortened. This means that the knife must also be operated with two hands to open it, making it a two-handed knife in its purest form. The handle made of two thick steel plates and milled G10 is a modern take on the double-T handles of the Baselards of the 14th and 15th centuries. The knife is supplied with a custom-fitted Kydex sheath.

Boker Plus Extension Knife Boker has produced another fantastic quality and a very distinctive knife. The designer, Hein has interpreted the extension knife beautifully. A nice big chunky stonewashed D2 steel modified clip point blade. A very sharp flat-ground blade. That adapts/extends from closed 11.5cm into a large 30 cm knife. I love the T handle. It's basically a mirrored T handle so when the blade is extended both ends are used and the hand is protected. It's heavy but strong and looks good with its G10 scales. It's good to hold and has a good grip and fits in the hand. The button lock and cross bolt system works very well. The whole knife works extremely well. It's really different. I love it!! It comes with a purpose built custom-fit Kydex sheath giving multiple carry options. What a brilliant piece of kit. Boker has hit it out of the park once again. Boker Excellent!!
