Dirk Hofmeister of Midgard's Knives was inspired by the Nordic art of forging and created the pocket-knife version of the popular Little Dvalin.

The powerful Boker Plus Dvalin Folder Drop point impresses with its compact size and features a ball-bearing drop-point blade made of D2 with an austere stonewash finish and a pronounced hollow groove on both sides as a nail nick for opening the folding knife. The jimpings on the back of the blade promise a secure thumb rest for difficult cutting tasks.

The well-shaped and partially serrated handle made of G10 always lies securely in the hand. The stainless-steel framelock is concealed on the back of the handle and reliably secures the blade. The tip-up clip (r) takes on the texture of the handle, while the lanyard hole increases the carrying comfort. Supplied with a high-quality nylon case for storage.

    Dvalin folder

    Posted by questing_tentacle on 5th Apr 2024

I bought this as an alternative to the Midgard Messer version and pleased I did. It's a great little knife and I can't imagine how the original would be an improvement. That said, as much as I love chunky knives, this one is a slow burner. It's a proper little lump, heavy, and the clip isn't deep enough. I'm perservering but beginning to wish I'd put the money towards another PM2...The fixed blade version of this knife seems to be the more sensible take on the build. (Got one of them too).

    Very Impressive

    Posted by J.Mc on 8th Nov 2023

Certainly no expert on the finer details but I've had a few folding/pocket knives over the years. This Boker just ticks all the boxes. For anyone who likes solid, thick & beautifully engineered then this is a great introduction without spending a fortune. If you like the look in photos it exceeds in the flesh, feels bullet proof & the detailing is brilliant. Yes it weighs more than others in this category but that's not the point for this knife. Unless you're off on a trip where every ounce matters (and for most that is a non-issue) then the weight gives it that tank like quality I personally love. Treat yourself.

    Overbuilt Beauty

Posted by Dan Sharpe on 13th Oct 2023

I saw this and immedately loved the cute and chunky lines. I have looked at the Midgard Messer knives this is based on so did expect it to be "overbuilt", and I wasn't wrong! The blade isthick as well as wide, and most significantly the handle is twice as wide as many other knives which makes it a heavy knife. However Dirk Hofmeister clearly understands design and ergonomics as in hand the knife is perfectly balanced and doesn't feel heavy, however it is very heavy in the pocket which is why this gets only four stars rather than five. It would be great to see a titanium and carbon fibre version of this which could retain the overbuilt looks but lose some of the weight which would make it a great EDC knife, where local laws permit, and then deserve five stars.
