24th Feb 2022
We are the official UK home of Spyderco knives, stocking hundreds of premium models. Spyderco are known for their range of fixed blade knives and folding blade knives which is something we are proud to stock here at Heinnie Haynes.
The History of Spyderco
The well-known brand, Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser, their first product was the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker, which was sold at fairs and trade shows around America.
Spyderco are well known for their folding knives, and in 1981 that is when they created their first one, the C01 Worker. The concept of the knife was a round hole in the blade designed for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carry at the top of the pocket and the option of a serrated edge for great cutting performance.
What Are Spyderco Knives Used For?
Spyderco knives can be used for just about everything! As well as for the everyday tasks such as cutting string and opening parcels, we'd recommend using Spyderco knives for specialist activities such as bushcraft, survival and wilderness adventures. Spyderco make their knives in a range of sizes so you can ensure you are getting the best model for your specialist activity of choice. Let’s take a look at five of the best selling Spyderco knives you can buy online:
Spyderco UK Penknife
The Spyderco UK penknife is one of the United Kingdom's favourite selling pocket knives. Complete with a FRN handle, leaf-shaped blade and a flat grind, the knife is made using CTS BD1 stainless steel. Due to the UK knife law, this UKPK features a notch-joint at the knife’s pivot, allowing for the blade to feel secure in the open position but not lock it into place. We have a range of Spyderco penknives online with different coloured handles so you can choose. The handle is made from ultra-light FRN (fibreglass reinforced nylon) which is warp-resistant, grippy and performs amazingly well in almost any environment.
Spyderco Sustain
South African native, Stuart Ackerman designed the Spyderco Sustain knife, he wanted it to be a highly functional all-purpose cutting tool which could also be used to help make fires, build shelters and prepare food. The Sustain knife has a broad six-inch blade, which features a sturdy saber grind and a long swedge. This combination gives the knife high wear resistance, corrosion resistance, impact toughness and excellent polish ability.
Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight
Almost 30% lighter than its G10-handled counterparts, the Spyderco para 3 lightweight knife has linerless, open-backed construction and high-traction bi-directional texture patterns for a secure grip. The blade itself is made from CTS BD1N, a nitrogen-enriched high-carbon chromium steel that offers a superior balance of hardness, edge retention and corrosion resistance.
Spyderco Knives Tri-Angle Sharpmaker
This is the ultimate knife sharpener, it includes two sets of high Alumina Ceramic stones; A pair of medium grit stones for aggressive sharpening and a pair of fine stones for professional grade finishing. They also supply a set of brass safety rods which will protect the users' hands during the sharpening process. If you are sharpening plain edges then we recommend using the flat sides of the stones, however for serrated edges, use the corners. Included within the product, we will supply you with an instruction DVD and book.
Spyderco Clipit Knife Stand
As well as supplying a range of Spyderco knives, we also stock a range of Spyderco accessories. Acrylic diamond shaped wedges are a simple yet eye-catching way to display your knives. You can display it on your countertop or a display shelf where you can have the knife at a 45 degree angle.
