is a beautifull piece, the tang is not that strong , but is just to don't playthe lumberjack with this, is more a decoration item, as I knew before buying, or you can show off during a nice brazilian barbecue or english hog roast, but, unhappilly, the main problem is , the blade is bent, describing a curve to the right , and I'm disappointed with item specifically, I knew is not a great steel but it could be at least straight, I made a nice black walnut handle and a beautiful sheath, and now I'm just waiting for the barbecue. Ok I had an urge to build a bowie-fi*hter style knife, just to own and to see if I could as I normally build small scandi knives.. This blade fitted the bill nicely, good size, great lines and hidden tang, my favourite. But, I wanted to remove the bolster, I though that it would be an easy removal? Ahh! the brass bolster is pinned to the tang through a 3mm hole, a hole right where the blade thins from 30mm wide to 14mm in the tang. This does not seem like a great place to drill a hole. I will make this into a nice knife but I do not have confidence that the blade will withstand too much abuse. I do not want to chop down trees or anything but the hole has put any thoughts of batoning with the finished knife far from my mind. Just to clarify my blade is 4.5mm in width in the blade. The tang is easy to drill through and also easy to bend downwards a little for a better handle line. Also it says pakistan on top of the false edge but this is simple to remove with a scotchbrite. Still think its great value though.

Just received this withHH's usual speedy service. I picked it for its sleek shape which is better than the cheaper Bowies on this site. The steel thickness is actually just over 3.5mms. Not as quoted in a QA reply. That only gives the thickness of the false-ground edge. This is a good blank & worth the £13 I paid.
