BEAR AND SON GOLD RUSH BOWIE

Posted by Chris on 3rd Oct 2023

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING A NEW COLLECTION, MAINLY BOWIES AS WE NOW KNOW THEM , THIS IS I THINK MY THIRD BOWIE WHICH IS MY ONLY BEAR AND SON, THE BLADE FROM THE CROSSPIECE TO THE TIP IS 9 5/8 INCHES. THE BLADE APPEARS TO BE A HOLLOW GRIND ALBEIT A SHALLOW ONE. IT HAS MORE OR LESS A SATIN FINISH AND THE FALSE EDGE IS APPROXIMATELY 4 1/4 INCHES.FROM POINT TO SPINE. AT ITS WIDEST POINT FROM BELLY TO SPINE 2 1/8 INCHES WIDE THIS KNIFE IS NICE IN THE HAND, LIGHT AND COMFORTABLE TO HOLD .ALTHOUGH THE SCALES HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH ROUNDED CORNERS AS DO OTHER LARGE BOWIES.THIS DOES NOT DETRACT FROM THE COMFORT OF THE GRIP AND WOULD PROBABLY CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS AVOIDING TWISTING IN THE HAND WHEN IN USE. THE HANDLE FINISHES IN A BIRDS HEAD POMMEL WHICH WOULD AID IN THE RETENTION OF THE KNIFE IN USE WHEN IT MIGHT BECOME SLIPPERY. THE SCALES ARE AN ATTRACTIVE REDDISH-BROWN. THE CROSSPIECE IS A SIMPLE FLAT S SHAPE ,FOR THE PRICE THIS IS A NICE BOWIE AND MAY BE A GOOD EXAMPLE TO START A COLLECTION.

    Hmmmmm

So I don't own this knife, but I own one just like it, when I say just like it I mean exactly like it. I paid£20 for it, so I'm pretty sure the quality is nowhere near this 1. Just threw me when I saw it so I had to say something. Mine is probably a knock off of this, there is also a scene in Zombieland where either this or my cheap one shows up. Anyways good luck and I'm sure this is an awesome knife,

Bought this to replace the five western W49's I used to own years ago. This looks just like them, however it's far lighter & very easy to handle. Sheath is poor quality & a little disappointing. A pleasure to play with though.
