Failed to meet low level expectations

Posted by danny Oakeshott on 17th Mar 2026

Firstly great service from heinnie Haynes as per usual, fast delivery. This was purchased on a whim as I usually stick to sub 5" blades for camping, hunting and a bit of bushcraft. First the positives, it looks cool, that's about it. I removed this knife from it's packaging and instantly noticed that it didn't really hold in the kydex sheath at all, it rattled around like it was made for a different knife and the retention was practically non existent. The scales of the knife are poorly shaped and have sharp corners all round which would not be comfortable for any sort of use. The scales were also rattling around even after tightening down the bolts, maybe the holes drilled are too large I'm not sure. The factory ground edge is very wonky on both sides which leads to no alignment at all even at the very tip. This knife would probably make a good project knife for someone willing to make a new sheath, re profile the edge, re shape and fit the scales. But due to this low level of quality control I personally would not be confident in the heat treatment for actual use in the woods. Looks cool but if you want an actual tool for the job spend a bit more and grab an ESEE 6

Excellent for the price, in the photo it looks more tactical but when you hold it in your hand it's got a good weight and strength to it, the blade is 1/4" full tang with a flat grind, needed a little sharpening I've chopped with it battoned with it
