    Endura zdp-189

Posted by Christopher Stares on 10th Mar 2021

I've had a few Spydercos over the years so I know the quality, the Endura is a 'budget' Spydie but with a high end steel in this case, I must admit I prefer G10, titanium, micarta or carbon fibre over the FRN but the tradeoff is lightness, because it is very light for a big folder and the steel is great. I put a 17 degree polished edge on it with a Ken Onion Worksharp without any difficulty and it seem to do what it says on the tin, i.e hold it's edge very well. It's not as nice as a Para 2 in Maximet but then that's twice the price, all in I'm very happy with it. Usual service from Heinnie, thanks, Chris.

    Another to the collection

Posted by Pete on 10th Sep 2016

Amazing service from HH as usual, ordered on a Friday arrived Saturday via regular mail! Bravo My fourth or fifth spydie, debated between this and the S110V military but couldn't justify almost double the price First ZDP blade, steel is fantastic! Fit and finish is great as usual, feels nice in hand and pocket, going to hard to replace this one!

    Sharpening!!

    Posted by GRANT.E on 26th Dec 2015

JUST A QUICK ADDITION TO MY LAST REVIEW,MEANT TO MENTION IT THEN. ALL MY KNIFE SHARPENING IS DONE ON EITHER FINE/EXTRA FINE DIAMOND PLATES OR MY CERAMIC LANSKY ROD KIT, AGAIN FINE/EXTRA FINE BUT WHAT I FIND MOST IMRESSIVE TO FINISH YOUR KNIVES OFF IS A GLOBAL CERAMIC POLE. I HAVE READ WHERE PEOPLE ARE STRUGGLING TO SHARPEN ZDP189 ,I GOT MINE SHARPER THAN RAZOR USING MY GLOBAL INFACTS THE GLOBAL ROD FINISHES ALL MY KNIVES OFF. I HAVE ALSO READ WHERE ZDP BENEFITS FROM A POLISHED EDGE AND THATS WHAT THE GLOBAL LEAVES . I HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP SOMEONE AND HAPPY SHARPENING TO ALL..

    THE SHARPEST KNIFE I POSSESS

    Posted by GRANT.E on 23rd Dec 2015

This knife is all about the blade, mine came today VERY SHARP and by the time id done a bit of honing the results were truly razor blade sharp[AT LEAST] Just wait and see how long it stays like that. I ummed and arred about getting this knife, not so much as the FRN but the colour,i didn't really want Green, only in the sun light it looks Green in shade it is actually quite dark any way it was the ZDP 189 i wanted. If you were able to get this knife with G10 scales and ball lock it would be double the price. The FRN is solid and feels good and lets face it if your hand isn't around it then its in your pocket. Anyway IMO this is an excellent price for the amount of ZDP your getting. I ordered this and the Manix 2XL on Sunday and had them both for weds morning,so once again well done to H.H for getting through all that xmas chaos..Many thanx and wish you all a Merry Xmas.

    Bit disappointing

    Posted by PaulHW100 on 17th May 2015

I've no doubt the ZDP will hold an edge longer because it takes longer to sharpen. The disappointing thing is the really cheapo handle, three pieces of ill fitting plastic held together with flimsy screws. It's a shame really as its a decent blade and a good size too. I've had about a dozen spydercos and I think the quality varies quite a bit with the price, and this isn't one of the dearest.

    Perfect cutter

Posted by Mark b from Chester on 23rd Oct 2014

I already own 30 plus Spydie folders including ZDP 189 blades and a VG10 Endura, so this was hard to justify. It turns out I was wrong to wait, this is the perfect Spyderco. It exactly matches their company philosophy with a perfect tool steel and a sharp simple blade design. Lovely.

    Bargain

Posted by Greg on 19th Sep 2012

Can only agree with Ian: light, sharp, ergonomic and sharp. It feels great in the hand. Plus you're getting nearly four inches of ZDP-189 for under a ton. I think this is a bit of a bargain.

    my first Spyderco

Posted by Ian Poxton on 21st Jul 2012

Wow what a knife! Very light in hand and the first real razor sharp from factory knife I have. It will shave arm hair straight out of the box! With a weight of 92.6 grams you hardly notice it's in your pocket. Super fast service from HH leaves nothing more to add :)
