SOG KeyTron UK 18

I've had it for over a year. It holds together my house, shed, and car keys, and a shopping trolley token. I really like how easy it is to undo the ring, because now and then I need to separate the keys / token - yet it's never come undone by itself, so it's super secure. The knife is still sharp, and is easy to open even with the narrow slit. Enough length to cut open the occasional parcel, and for picnic tasks like slicing up an apple for the kids. It really doesn't take much room at all together with the keys (and I am very unforgiving as I hate bulging pockets). BUT! The one thing the designers should have done differently is reverse the bottle opener, so you lever *away* from yourself to open a bottle, not towards. Once you try it you realise it's different from all other bottle openers, and you have less leverage getting the bottle cap off from the "wrong" side. I just couldn't imagine that it was the wrong way round by looking at it, only when I came to actually open a bottle. You can't use it the usual way round because you'd then have to hold it by the ring, which is not enough in your hand for proper leverage. It's still doable this way, but not as easy.

This is the second SOG knife I have bought (actually the third as I bought one for my eldest son in the army as an EDC). I wanted a small knife to carry for me a civilian which it doesn’t matter if I forget to take it out of my pocket when out and about . I have only had it less than a week and already used it many times a day. Mainly cutting cord, opening packaging, sharpening pencils etc but it’s always there now in my pocket not on a key chain but a lanyard - using some of the Paracord I also bought .

I noticed this in passing while browsing HH as you do. I have at least 5 other keychain sized knives all of which get pocket time, an Ontario Traveller, a Spyderco Roadie, a Boker Plus Tech Tool mini and a couple of Sanrenmus. They are all great for typical keychain duty. What I immediately noticed about the SOG was the integral loop. Makes it super easy to remove. I also noted the bottle opener though I already carry 3 OPTs with bottle openers. I like the all metal construction. Makes it very thin so it sits really well on the quite busy keychain. There are a couple of points for which I deduct a star. It’s not difficult to open, the spring tension is reasonable but for the opening pull I think the nail slot is too near the pivot. There is not as much blade to pinch as on most of my other keychain knives. And why oh why does SOG plaster their logo so loudly.

Update from my 2018 review, still have this, but it is now a stand alone E D C pocket carry. Reason ? originally carried it with my key's but found it sometimes to tricky to use, so now carry it but now carry it as an unobtrusive & light everyday carry blade.

Great little knife that’s perfect for everyday use at work and around the home. Strong, and sharp.

Good idea , poor execution....plan was good , a small knife built for keyrings butbigenough for opening envelpoes boxes ect ....but the keyring catch opens if it gets squshed in your pocket , the knife is hard to open as blade is almost hidden in body , and when blade isout the knife has no strength and twists easy .....

Small, Sharp and UK EDC legal. It's slim design disappears into a pocket (or a keychain if thats your thing). Nice and sharp out of the box, would recommend.

This is a fantastic little knife. Really sharp out of the box and easy to use. HH service was impeccable as well. A great little stocking filler/small gift for anyone who likes knives.
