    Great

Simply stunning for the price. Minor gap around the bolster on one side, otherwise great quality. Great looking white bone with loads of character.

    Beautiful

What a beautiful knife for the price. Solid. Looks and feels so great. My only complaint is a slight design one. The nail nick of the main blade is a little obscured by the secondary blade making it a little difficult to open. That may be common on Barlows, I don't know as this is the first I've bought. Quality fit & finish. Overall, absolutely delighted. Literally NO blade play. Sharp out of the box. Speedy delivery too :-)

An ok knife for the money disappointed with the blade .
    I wouldn't buy another Rough Rider .
Best spend more money on better quality.

An excellent, well made, barlow knife.

This was my first purchase from HH and if this experience is anything to go by, it will NOT be my last...!! I ordered it mid-afternoon yesterday and it arrived this morning... what absolutely astounding service from Richard and the team at HH - well done and many thanks!

As for the knife - at its selling price you might be forgiven for thinking the makers would have "cut corners" with certain features, but no, its components all look to be of a high standard and its fit and finish are of a high standard. Both blades are extremely sharp out of the box and their centring are more or less spot on. I bought it as a replacement for my old Rodgers barlow and I am more than pleased with it. Over all, a well made, well finished, attractive knife - and great value. Again - many thanks to all at HH.....

    Traditional bone barlow

One cut thumb, fair to say the back spring isn't too beefy, but that's to be expected. Nice little piece for the collection.

Love this little knife, really well made, bought it as it reminded me of a knife my Grandad used. Sharp out of the box, and also great service by HH, overnight delivery.

    Real Surprise!

Posted by John on 15th Mar 2019

I wasn't expecting much for £12 and I was blown away when I opened the box, it's £12 of perfect, both blades are sharp, the main blade is shaving sharp and both are well centred when closed, there's no overhang on the scales everything is flush.

The small blade almost covers the nail nick on the big blade but I haven't found it a problem as you can still get your nail in the nick and the blade has just the right amount of resistance

My one has small black flakes on one side of the scales which adds to its character

Did I mention it was £12!

Amazing delivery from HH crazy fast, I'm going to order a couple of bacon rolls in with my next order, they'll still be hot when they arrive!

    Tradition lives on

I do not carry this knife everyday. Everyday I carry a BM Proper (see my reviews) but I do like this knife, perhaps more than I should. I love the scales in plain bone and the absence of scribbling on the blade. Above all I love RR Barlow's smooth format both in the hand and pocket; though why they cannot take full advantage of the UK law fully I don't know.

I like to think of this knife as my throw down knife - the knife I carry - and I always carry one - when I am unsure of the response I might get. So in a tourist situation recently I took this knife as my lunch knife because it is so small, old fashioned and inoffensive. If someone in authority said hand it over,' the principle would burn, but not my wallet. In short you're not going to terrify anyone or disturb the horses with this one.

It is well made, though that is not consistently the case with RR and it comes sharp though it will take a superb edge. For the fun of it I put it through its paces: a bit of whittling and daily carry and it lasted three days before the blades started to wobble. This I fixed with a peening hammer and some polish and it is now back as good as new.

For the price of a round of beers it compares favourably in terms of build quality with both a Buck and a Case I bought recently.

The tradition of the cheaply priced traditional folder is alive and well with the RR Barlow. It has its limitations and is modest in size but it will do good work.
