The QSP Penguin has been one of the most popular folders of recent times. It is a powerfully built knife with a wide, sheepsfoot blade capable of a wide variety of tasks. In previous incarnations the blade locks into place but this new model has a non-locking slip joint mechanism. This means that as the blade is under three inches long and not locking it is OK to carry within the UK. Due to its exceptional manufacturing and very sturdy back spine the blade snaps into the open and closed position with reassuring crispness! Plus there is a half stop which will help to prevent accidental closure.
The handle is made from G10 with attractive red liner on the black option and black liner on the white version. There is also a choice of blue or OD green G10. Accessorise your one with a lanyard and add a detachable thumb stud if you wish to enable one handed opening.
Now you can carry your favourite knife for all your daily chores!

Nice introduction to HH
Stunning knife for the price, beautiful blade shape, amazingly strong slip joint, can’t wait for a copper or brass version.
I wasn’t expecting much for the price, however, Qsp have done it again. Uk legal penguin, with finger choil….safe as houses! Love it! I just hope HH gets hold of the 20CV version… I’d get that too!
I now own the D2 liner lock Penguin, the micarta Hedgehog, & the UK friendly G10 Penguin. All great knives. The 14C28N of the G10 Penguin & Hedgehog, is tougher and more corrosion resistant than D2 but won't hold and edge for so long. This Penguin is a very solid tool, with a wide blade that snaps firmly shut after first engaging the half stop. The stop pin gives an additional sense of strength and security. The absence of a pocket clip is a plus for me, as I prefer a lanyard hole as found on this model, The addition of a choil allows for precision work, but this has meant a significant loss of cutting length relative to the original Penguin. Of the three knives mentioned, I feel the Hedgehog has the best ergonomics, but the Penguins are heavier duty offerings. This knife is beautifully made with a superb fit and finish and definitely worthy of a five star rating.
It's a lot of knife for a UK friendly carry. My new goto EDC
Bought to match my QSP Hedgehog , the steel in these knives is underrated by some , however it holds an edge adequately and is easy to sharpen . Good buy , excellent EDC 's . Delivery by H/H outstanding as always.
Let’s face it, the penguin has quickly become a surprise classic. I’ve had one of the original frame locks for a while and love it, just can’t carry it. And at last they’ve brought out a slip joint version. Fit and finish is way above the price point, and ergonomics are better than the original. The long pull/ fuller is a far more aesthetically pleasing and functionally superior choice than the nail nick. 14c28n makes a nice change from the swathes of D2 you see at the moment, and I like this steel for edc. Walk and talk is superb, enough retention to be reassuring but not problematic. A crisp half stop and close. The knife reminds me of the ADV pocket butcher, but way cheaper. My only complaint is the lack of a pocket clip, but given the number of iterations the penguin has seen it’s quite possible that QSP will be bringing this out in the future, and I’ll get one of them too.
I was hoping for a UK legal penguin ever since been carrying the normal one from launch, this has not disapointed at all and with the half half choil feels really safe in hand. thank you HH for getting this little gem
