A favourite amongst gardeners of the UK.

With its tapered handle of this knife combined with its light weight, this little tool is excellent to have in hand for those small jobs you spot as your move around the garden.

    Good for garden, homes...

Posted by Stevo on 30th Jul 2018

Mine came dull at the tip. Maybe so it can be used for small digging jobs in the garden? Just a guess; normally an Opinel needs only a light sharpen and strop when new. This one took some work to get it sharp enough for woodcarving, to shape a kitchen spoon in beech. Good size for food prep, and easy to clean up after use, indoors or out. Sandvic makes excellent stainless, so no complaints. Nice and light in pocket or tool bag. Very easy to open, even with gloves on. Tried and tested design, comfortable to use, readily available, modest price - what could be better? Only legendary service and delivery from HH! Cheers!

    a simple, solid little knife

i've owned several Opinel knives over the years, all carbon steel blades. this is my first stainless Opinel and i like it! i use it for eating on hikes and hill walks and the stainless is a nice thing to have: doesn't impart that "steel" flavour to food and stays pretty with a little basic care. Opinel carbon steel is famous for taking an excellent edge and many folks diss the stainless blades for not being as good. so far i'm not seeing the justification for that accusation -- was sharp out of the box and still is -- but time will tell.

    Finess.

This particular Opinel is very suited to finer work. The handle and blade shape lends itself to carving, food preparation and cuts that require blade up use. The inox steel takes a good edge and you do not have the concerns (Tetanus) that carbon brings .
