Ontario Spec Plus Raider Bowie

This knife is heavy - I can't imagine any marine wanting to lug one of these lumps on their belt, but at camp it chops and batons beautifully. It's weight is only really a drawback on the belt, as in the hand it is very well balanced, and the weight helps it chop. Unlike a lot of big chopping knives this has a good useable tip too, which I always find useful. The handle is big and grippy, even for my huge hands, and the blade profile is great for heavy work. If you want a big knife to use as a hatchet alternative, this is a good one. If you want to whittle anything smaller than a siege tower, it will do surprisingly well for it's mass, but not ideal. This this is a big knife for cutting big things.

Knife arrived today. I've already batoned it through several seasoned oak logs , hitting it with a sawn off fence post. Only damage is slight wear on coating. Well pleased with this knife ! Big thank you to Louise for sorting out delivery problem.

Having had an SP5 for more years than I care to remember I thought I'd add the former 'Marine' Raider SP10 at last, never having got round to it when they were available in 1095, this 1075 version seems identical bar the steel spec. Contrary to some online reviews I've read mine is spot on grind wise and fit and finish is impressive too particularly the blade crossguard fitting, dead square, no gaps. In all honesty it's probably not going to see a huge amount of use but I have no doubt it would survive anything that any sane person would ask of a knife, plenty of vids on YouTube including one involving destruction testing... and as I said the knife will do anything a knife should be asked to do and a lot it shouldn't.

Suitable as a beater knife very heavy duty, however the grind on the front of mine was awful completely uneven making the tip appear bent although it was not, I decided to try and correct this myself as the spine is quite soft I was able to use a simple gardeners file to re profile the grind on the top side of the clip point of the blade to some success, think I got a bad example. The handle is really good albeit for a larger hand very grippy, this knife is built to be used full stop but it aint no display peice!

If you want a knife that takes punishment this is it all you need if your going up the mountain cuts chops hammers and defence what more do you want and the price is spot on great all rounder .heinne Haynes great service

Awesome knife heavy chopper great deal and is cool that it comes with a one year warranty in case it broke from exceptible use, nice sheath too, can't complain about of the knife's price even though there are loads of more expensive quality knives this is a decent tool for the money.
