Description

The Marbles Rigger's Knife is a traditional design used by sailors and those at sea. The Marlin Spike is a very useful tool for unlaying rope for splicing and untying knots. The sheepsfoot blade makes for a very versatile cutting tool for any circumstance but is great for rope work in particular. Made entirely from stainless steel it is a non-locking blade with a cutting edge under three inches making it legal to carry within the UK at the owners discretion.

Crude, poorly finished, on a but budget

Posted by if its not industrial it's broken on 4th Nov 2021

Arrived standard HH service, within 36 hrs. A budget knife. 1st was not expecting it to be as large as it is . 2nd very crude in design, is that a bad thing. it is a working knife. 3rd poor build quality, rivits project and rough, blade rattle, 4th not sharp. will work on it as i do all my knives, report my findings on another date.

    Heavy

This thing is heavy. May be ok for some but this wasnt what I was expecting. Blade looks substantial but I didn't use it, returned.

    Mixed feelings

    Posted by B C on 15th Mar 2021

+ blade is great + spike is awesome + handle/scales solid - bad blade play - very soft spring - rivets not properly peened on one side and will scratch/cut your hand. Will probably try to finish the knife a bit better at some point and/or replace the rivets. Still happy with t he knife though as I primarily bought it as a ornament not for actual use.

    Very Happy Customer

Posted by Aron on 31st Mar 2020

As soon as I pressed the button to purchase this, I started wondering if maybe I should've got one with proper scales instead of a one-piece steel handle. I needn't have worried. In plain brushed steel it looks beautiful. Also, the photos here which show it's slim profile make it look a bit flimsier than it actually is. This thing is built like a tank. I found no sideways give with either blade. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that locks would've been redundant. Both blades snap out into place very firmly and stay there, but without being difficult to open. The sheeps foot blade was sharp enough to cut paper easily right out of the box, and the marlinspike is very tough with a fine enough point that you can clean your fingernails with it. So to sum up; it's beautiful to look at, tough, does what it should do and doesn't do anything it shouldn't. This is my first purchase from HH and I'm very satisfied with both it and the service. Well done Marbles and well done Heinnie Haynes.

    Chunky!

Posted by Tom M on 6th Oct 2018

This is one big and heafty folder. The spike and blade are both over 3 inches and the handle another 3 and a bit inches of steel. I really quite like this thing, and although the fit and finish isn't perfect (-1*), there is slight side to side play with the marlin spike and blade, it came sharp and it feels like it'll sharpen easily too. The bail is very strong and feels like it can handle the hanging weight of the knife easily. I bought this to fight the increasing amount of knotted string at work, hoping the marlin spike might assist undoing those knots. Pretty sure it's too big for that so it'll end up in the outdoor rotation. Definitely won't be EDC'd often due to the weight though.

    Great knife !!

Posted by MushroomMan on 14th Jul 2018

I have the John Nowill version of this knife. It has plastic scales, this is stainless all over. No nail nick on blade, but the light spring makes it a one hand opener for blade and spike. Blade on mine is 2 7/8 inch, so UK legal, unlike Tom M's ?? Nice and slim, fits pocket a treat. A couple of the rivets are a bit sharp, nowt a tap with a punch won't sort out. Not razor sharp, but better than some OTB. Blindingly fast delivery as usual !!! If you need a decent stainless blade for work, and maybe a spike for ropework, or punching hloes in stuff, this is the bees knees. And it's less than half the price ok the JK version.
