Yoshimi Kotoh is a Japanese custom knife maker whose knives exude quality and traditional craftsmanship and design.

The Kotoh Burma Padouk D2 is a beautiful little friction folder with a sub three inch blade that doesn't lock. So this is a knife you can carry with you to complete all your daily chores.

The handle is simply one piece of Burma Padouk wood with the mid section precisely cut out to accommodate the blade. The blade is made from tough, hard carbon steel and has an extended tang to aid one handed opening and to prevent closing during use.

    Lovely Knife

Posted by Al on 12th Mar 2025

Great delivery from Heinnie. I have had this knife for a while now. and put my basic SAKs into retirement! The knife is beautifully made ,discrete very sharp and holds its edge well being D2 steel.. Best of all it is light in weight and can be with you for all those annoying minor cutting tasks thrown up by packaging and tape etc around the house. It has a lanyard hole too. The handle is really comfortable warm to the touch but grippable and looks great . Opening and closing with one hand needs a bit of practice but is easily doable.. Should you forget it’s in your pocket it is UK legal as well. The sheath is a bit on the lurid side but it is easily spotted ( in my case a good thing as I tend to leave things lying about )and looks quite sturdy . Stitching looks as if it might need waxing .. .I have punched and ringleted the case for a lanyard as I don’t like lanyard attachment s when the knife is in use. This is not a cheap knife but Is I think worth its money both for use and in a collection.
