The Helikon-Tex UTP (Urban Tactical Pants) in Black were designed as a ‘mid profile' model, which means that they look less like a uniform-type pant such as the BDU, ACU, SFU, CPU or M65, but at the same time the UTP provide a greater functionality in comparison with typically civilian/low profile clothing intended for carrying equipment in a discrete manner.

Good fit. Polycotton ripstop seems tough and durable. Personally I prefer it to fully synthetic materials. Can't say that I notice the small bit of stretch fibre in the mix but it must help a little. Velcro closure is handy. Subtracted one point be of a potential weak spot. The main pockets are rather thinner material than the rest. Plain cotton I think. When you are putting keys and coins or other hard objects in them they might not last long. Otherwise good value and well made.
I have been wearing these for some five years now. I don't wear jeans as I go through the crutch in short order and find them uncomfortable. I wear these for everything from cleaning the car to shooting on the range and dog walking. Their use is "bash them; wash them and wear them." For the price they can't be beaten. I was dubious about the Velcro waist fastening but after five years it is still going strong on a 30degree wash. Excellent value.
I have just received my pair of these, size large, in olive green. I've not used them yet, but they seem great - rip-stop construction; good pockets (I like to have rear pockets, for storing items such as a tube-style neck fleece or a low profile wool hat). The lanyard loops on the belt loops above the side pockets seem like a nice touch, too., as are the small pockets inside the waist line (possibly good for small survival/EDC items?). All this and the usual excellent service from Heinnie Haynes! I look forward to using and testing these in the field.
