Heinnie Red Edition is a new initiative dedicated to craftsmanship, rarity, and meaningful collaboration. Each Red Edition release represents a one-off partnership with leading brands, specialist manufacturers, or custom knife makers—bringing together shared values to create pieces that are truly collectable.

Unlike our standard Heinnie Exclusives, Red Edition models will be produced as single, never-to-be-repeated runs. Every piece is individually serial-numbered and released in extremely limited quantities.

First up to the plate is the Heinnie Red Edition Mini Sheepdog, limited to just 200 pieces. Each is accompanied by Red Edition packaging and stickers including the limited edition 'Point of Origin' Sticker. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

Red Edition allows us to focus on the projects that matter most to us: things like collaborating with custom makers whose output is inherently very limited, reviving cult classics long since discontinued, or putting our own signature twist on an existing favourite.

For this inaugural Red Edition, we’ve done exactly that, bringing back the cult-favourite Mini Sheepdog and giving it the Heinnie treatment. The result features a distinctive two-tone G10 handle paired with a 154CM stainless steel blade. It’s undeniably collectable, but never at the expense of usability. A blackwashed finish helps disguise the marks of everyday use, while the non-locking sub-3" blade makes it suitable for UK carry.

Exclusive. Finite. Collectible.

    A lovely penknife

Posted by mark butcher on 29th Jan 2026

The ability to have this in my pocket while walking around in the UK was the most important feature of this penknife for me. The second most important feature of this penknife for me was the blade shape. Apart from the Tanto it may just be my favourite. The box it came in was also beautiful. However it feels a waste as it will go into the recycling. One ‘negative’ was that to me the joint feels ’loose’. I have a couple of Bokers and the joints are much tighter and feel stronger. I’m sure there is no issue with this penknife but I do prefer a tighter action, even if it’s harder to open as a result. Thank you for making this available.

    A special piece indeed

Posted by Alex G on 27th Jan 2026

'm very pleased with the Heinnie Red Edition #1 Kizer Mini Sheepdog. It feels well thought-out and properly finished, with the red G10 scales and 154CM blade giving it a premium, limited-run feel rather than a standard production knife. In everyday use it performs exactly as you'd expect from the Mini Sheepdog design. The action is smooth, the detent is well judged, and one-handed opening is easy and satisfying. Despite the compact size, the cleaver-style blade is extremely practical for typical EDC tasks like packaging, cord, and general cutting, and the handle shape makes it comfortable to use and secure in the hand. Being UK-legal was a key reason for choosing it, and the slipjoint works nicely without feeling weak or awkward. It also happens to be quite fidget-friendly, which is a bonus. Overall, this is a solid, well-built, and genuinely useful little knife that also feels a bit special. A great option if you want a UK-friendly EDC with quality materials and a distinctive look from Kizer, especially as a collaboration with Heinnie.

    Nice little knife

Posted by Stuart Hosie on 26th Jan 2026

My second Kizer, bought, not for the limited edition status but for the model, which I've been after for a while. The quality is good for the price, but it's a little small for my hands. The Red Edition packaging is quite smart.

    Handy & cool

Comfortable handle, great blade shape, could be used for anything from box cutting through food prep to scraping shavings from wood for easy kindling, I love it!

Heinnie Red Edition #1 Kizer Mini Sheepdog

Posted by Thomas Hervey on 18th Jan 2026

This limited edition sold out very quickly. (I have number 003 of the 200 run.) If you just like the look of it, it is remarkably similar to the Heinnie version of the CRKT Pilar, which is still available and substantially cheaper. The listed dimensions cannot be right: the Pilar is clearly smaller but its blade length is given as longer. The blade of the Pilar is noticeably thicker, which I like. The scales on the Mini Sheepdog are fancier and the (one position) clip goes the other way from the Pilar. The black blade on my Mini Sheepdog had some visible flaws and was overall not as good as the coating on other black knives I have bought from Heinnie. If black blades are going to be a feature of Red Edition knives, I would recommend finding a better process for applying the coating.
