Another one for the collection
To say that I have a couple of Spyderco offerings is, I suppose, a bit of an understatement but I saw the Yohimbo 2 and liked it from the off. It is also my first and only Wharncliffe blade, The quality of this knife is typical of Spyderco. It has a heft to it that I've come to expect from this brand. It has a Compression lock which I know doesn't find appreciation with a lot of collectors but I think it is a good locking system provided the locking bar actuates properly and stops in the right place for a solid lock-up, consequently releasing the lock can be a little fiddley but I think this a good thing because you’re not going to unlock it by accident unless you are very ham-fisted. In my opinion, what would make the compression lock system better is the button system like on the Sage 6 push button, possible upgrade for the next iteration? Out of the box the blade is, as expected, hair popping sharp and is made from CPM SPY27 which seems to be a very good steel. The scale are Cobalt blue G!0 and the handle also has steel liners nestled inside the scales making this knife feel nice and solid in the hand. Another success from the guy's at Spyderco.
