The Extrema Ratio DOBERMANN IV represents the evolution of the original Extrema Ratio K1 DOBERMANN model. Since its inception in 1997, the DOBERMANN model has undergone significant aesthetic and design changes to keep up with evolving tastes and trends, while staying true to its original design. The DOBERMANN IV is characterized by its flexibility and structural resistance.
The DOBERMANN IV S600, like its predecessor, is a versatile tool suitable for hunting, survival, camping, and military use. The blade features a "drop point" tip and a "recurved blade" profile in the central section, with a full flat grind. This specific blade geometry allows the DOBERMANN IV to make precise, clean cuts on materials such as rope, wood, and foliage, and is equally effective for Bushcraft and Survival tasks like batoning and chopping. Unlike other DOBERMANN IV models, this version uses Böhler S600 steel. This material is commonly used in industrial production for metalworking tools and mold making. Its high molybdenum, tungsten, and vanadium content provide excellent hardness, wear resistance, and toughness. Cobalt contributes to the formation of small, uniformly distributed carbides, further enhancing wear resistance. The DOBERMANN IV S600 blade is tempered and cryogenically treated, achieving an exceptional hardness of 64 HRC, which ensures great wear resistance and long-lasting sharpness. Although Böhler S600 contains 4.5% chromium and is prone to oxidation, Extrema Ratio has applied a new Teflon-based coating called “EXP DARK” to protect it.
The DOBERMANN IV S600 features a green forprene handle with an exposed tang that functions as a glass breaker and includes a slot for attaching a strap. The knife comes with a green cordura thigh sheath equipped with a mounting system compatible with the M.O.L.L.E. system, and is adaptable for both left-handed and right-handed users.
