This is the Case Mini Trapper Wharncliffe. The Wharncliffe blade is a highly popular blade shape due, in part, to the high level of control one can achieve during use. Marry that to a clip point blade and Case manufacturing quality and you have a traditional pen knife that is a joy to use and own.

Both blades are stainless steel, non-locking and under three inches long making the knife UK friendly carry. The handle scales are stag bone with stainless bolsters and brass liners and the Case logo is imprinted onto a shield in the scale.

This is the kind of knife that will stay with you on life's journey and stiil perform to the highest level. Pop it in your pocket with peace of mind or in your pack on your next outing.

    Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet

I'd been considering a Case medium trapper for ages but wasn't sure what I'd use the spey blade for. Then I spotted this. The Wharncliff is a brilliant replacement. A really useful blade. The handle is bone treated using the processes normally reserved for stagg. The result is simply stunning. Fit and finish is excellent (one infinitesimally small gap). It's a hand in down through the family knife. Gorgeous.

    A Little Cracker

Having heard a lot about the quality of Case knives I thought I should buy one to see if all the good things being said were justified. They are! I have a couple of Rough Rider copies which are actually very good considering the bargain basement prices of this brand. I doubted if the far higher cost of Case knives would be justified in terms of quality of materials and finish but I couldn't have been more wrong. The fit and finish is of a much higher standard as are the materials used. Everything looks and feels right. The attractive bone scales are perfectly fitted with no gaps and they have been given a nice polish. The riveting is neat and the scales are flush with the liners. The blades have been given a nice mirror polish and the edges on ech were reasonable. OK, there was a bit of a toothy feel to the edges when performing the paper slicing test but they still cut quite cleanly for the most part. I spent a few minutes with a diamond grit

    Part 2

Posted by Charles on 15th Nov 2019

Apologies - I committed my review by accident and before I had completed it. I was saying that I spent a couple of minutes with a fine diamond grit sharpener and I now have 2 blades that can shave the hair of your arms. I am delighted with this knife and will almost certainly be buying another Case knife in the future. It almost goes without saying that HH's service was first class.

    Great UK legal knife.

Great knife from the legendary W. R Case & Sons, I chose this one because I don't have a everyday use for a spey blade. You can not go wrong with a Case.
