Why wouldn't the nail nick be on the other side of the main blade like it is on the canoe? It means you have to open the pen blade to get to the main blade's nail nick. Even my Missus asked why they didn't reverse it.

Well finished absolute bargain but I found it a bit heavy for trouser EDC
Sliced A4 straight from the box
Nice for £14. Mine arrived very greasy (assume machining oils), lots of grit causing issues (noise/roughness on opening etc.). Spent half an hour cleaning it up and then noticed gaps between the back springs viewable now all the gunk had been cleared out. Sharpness - OK, very sharp after a few minutes on the sharpmaker. Finish of the jigged bone very good. All in all I think £14 is OK for this knife, I can take it out without worrying about loosing it whilst having a reasonable looking barlow knife. A Sharp dual blade UK legal carry.
Sharp out of the box and the QC on this one was pretty near perfect. No sharp edges anywhere (except the blades) even the ends of the blades where they hit the stops have been nicely finished, so nothing to catch or scratch your hand when holding it. Very pleased with this Rough Rider Barlow. HH again was superb in delivery
Fit and finish on this one is good, not perfect. No blade play on either blade, scales are well done and good looking, although one has a slight split at the end, not perfect. Nailnicks on the same side is a problem as the small blade almost covers the nail nick on the large blade making for difficult opening. Pull is about a 5, so not perfect. Grind on both blades ok, but just past the tip of the main blade and the main blade doesn't fit level with its back spring. Again not perfect. You know what there is quite a lot of very minor details on this knife which are not perfect. But for £13 I can overlook all of them, it feels great to use, is sharp, it's good looking, it's legal to carry and if it gets lost I'm not going to too bothered or upset. Not a safe queen, just a great usable everyday knife in every respect and in that a perfect historical Barlow. I love it. HH got this to me overnight and I ordered at 4pm Friday. Thank you again Guys.
This is the third rough rider knife I have bought from HH. When it arrived I was less than impressed by its butter knife sharpness. But having put it to a stone I find it growing on me and for the price who can argue. The blade action is good, it takes decent edge and the pocket feel is excellent. One bolster is not quite flush but I will forgive that in an otherwise good knife. As I said this is my third RR knife I have reviewed here and the only one to score more than two stars because of build issues and therefore the only one that has found its way into my pocket for any length of time. . This is very good value knife and for the price a real bargain.
This is the third RR knife I have bought in amber jigged bone and all three are fantastic. The scales themselves are grippy and look good (better than in Heinnies pictures) and have been attached flawlessly, the pins are all smoothed off and the bolsters seem solidly attached. The blades came sharp out of the box, seem solid and are centred when blades are closed. The nice brass lines are straight. There is a very small amount of gappiness between one liner and the bolster and the back spring itself is a little weak but not to the point of it being a concern. Overall, a great little knife for a good price, 3 out of 3!
Gorgeous Barlow style knife. All I can say is "Try one and you'll see". Well worth twice three times the price. Well made, great 'snap'. I'm hooked!!
