The MKM Malga 6 penknife is a superb outdoor, camp knife that will only look better with age and use. Many elements to this this knife set it apart from the standard penknife of this type. The Micarta handle is highly resistant to the elements and will weather with you through your coming adventures. The blade is stonewash M390 stainless steel which, again, is a cut above the norm and an extremely tough material that will hold an edge.

It is also classed as UK friendly carry due to the sub three inch, non-locking blade.

Features:

  • M390 Stainless blade
  • Fork
  • Can Opener
  • Bottle Opener
  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • Corkscrew
  • Awl

    MKM Malga 6

Posted by Tim Sturgess on 20th Oct 2021

Loved the concept of this, and really wanted to love it... and I do, but it's let down by a few issues that really bother me at the price point it is at. The scales are not flush with the frame, all the way round. There is a noticeable overlap, to me at least, but maybe I am being picky. The finish to the scales isn't quite uniform either. The finish to visible parts of the tools within the frame is pretty agricultural. But, all of the above I could live with, even if I was a little bit disappointed. However, I have noticed that the corkscrew sits noticeably proud of the frame, and is slightly bent. I have only opened one bottle of wine with it! I didn't notice at the time, and didn't do anything out of the ordinary when using it. This issue makes me think it is just not fit for purpose. I have also noticed that the frame by the corkscrew has a couple of dents in it. Is it made of steel that is just a bit too soft? A shame, as I really wanted to like it. Maybe I was just unlucky with this one. I am about to email HH to request a return, which I have never considered before with any of my purchases.

I have this in the green and it is stunning. A lovely little tool. Very easy to open and very lightweight. Totally recommend

    Sak killer?.......no

Blade point sits too high in the frame when closed, combined with a fair old gap between the point and the lanyard dohickey/internal framework means its very easy to snag things - other pocket contents - pocket liner - a finger!. Try running your finger along the spine of the blade from tip to back when closed, let me know how much it hurts and how much blood you spill :D It will get used by myself but will always have to be carried in a slip.

    Disappointed

Nice blade and scales apart, I found this knife to be very average with poor tolerances. Maybe the price you pay for a hand made item. A Victorinox Pioneer is a much better made knife for 1/3 of the price.
