Okay, let's put this in perspective. Its a non locking, £60 leatherman that's a cross between a pst and a rebar. I despair at people whining that something isn't ergonomic enough. Humans have been spoilt. My hands are calloused and scarred from tools, knives, hatchets and all manner of stuff. I wanted a multi that doesn't lock. Leatherman have given us this. I will use it and if it breaks I will buy another, and I won't moan that my poor ickle handies are not comfortable enough. Its a £60 multitool that will do the job. I'd love to carry a surge but its not worth it so this bond will have my back outside of the house. And its stiff because its brand new. We all know that some things need breaking in. Its not flash. Its minimalist back to basics. I stuck a t4 clip on it. See how it goes. I'm happy with it and it will have my back until it doesn't. I've wished for this for years. Enough said.
The best!
The metal file has teeth all all sides, including the edge facing outwards from the handle while folded. The file is also slightly too wide to fit entirely inside the handle- some of the teeth are proud of the edge of the handle. Teeth of the metal file are sticking into your hand when you're using the pliers. If you're putting any pressure or torque at all on the pliers, this can tear skin on your hand, which if you're working in any kind of grubby environment, is potentially infection city. Not good.
Very light in weight for a full sized Leatherman and great that it is UK carry friendly. The tools are very secure when deployed. However, when using the pliers it feels uncomfortable as there are many sharpish edges digging against the palm of the hand. You won't cut your hands but the surfaces leave a mark. I would advise wearing gloves for prolonged use. Comes with a useful nylon sheath for EDC. Leatherman are always proud to say that their tools are 100% USA made but oddly the accompanying sheath was made in China. Despite my reservations this would still be a good and useful purchase.
This isn't a great Leatherman. It feels very poorly-finished compared to my OG Wave (which is no longer legal carry due to locking blade). There are quite sharp edges on the handles and tools. The tools have a nasty, gritty action. The handles of the pliers are prone to jamming. The whole thing feels very "off" or wonky. The sheath that comes with it is, sadly, junk. The rivets in the middle of rules are just plain ugly. This feels like an effort by Gerber or something, like a cheap Leatherman copy. Have they become their own tribute act?
