The Lansky Turn Box 4 Rod is a very stable and compact knife sharpening system. It works well in the kitchen and it quickly breaks down for storage in a drawer. The Turn Box family of knife sharpeners is also great for outdoorsmen on the go because it is lightweight and stores easily into a backpack. It only takes a few swipes to maintain an edge (a bit more if you have a really dull knife).

There are two pre-set knife sharpening angles in the wood block 20 degree & 25 degree

25 Degrees - This is used for most kitchen knives and provides a sharp, durable edge.

20 Degrees - This is used for those desiring a very sharp edge. Some examples would be for filet knives or cutting tomatoes. Lower degrees result in sharper knives, but require more regular maintenance.

This 2-Stage Knife Sharpening System features a hardwood turnbox with internal rod storage in the base, two 12.7cm long medium diamond rods (600 grit), and two 12.7cm long fine ceramic rods (1000 grit).

    Faulty item

Posted by Jason Taylor on 8th Feb 2024

Had a problem with the first one I ordered as the box was drilled so bad the rods couldn't be stored away as they hit each other. Let Hennie know and I had a new one sent and received within a week! Great work!

    Worth it?

Posted by Frank on 1st Feb 2019

I have the old ceramic set that have now worn out and looking for a replacement. I have read that the Diamond ones last only 25 uses. At just about £30.00 a set I don't think they are worth the money if what I have read is true. I am now looking for an alternative system.

    OK for honing

Posted by Myrmecia on 3rd Nov 2018

This unit is a refinement on the basic Turnbox which has only ceramic rods. Lansky have kept the white ceramic rods and added a pair of diamond coated rods. The surfaces of both the ceramic and diamond rods loose their grit after around 100 uses (ceramic) and 25 uses (diamond). All makes of diamond coated sharpeners seem to have a weakness in the material used to bond the diamond particles. Some are better than others, but this Lansky is not one of those better ones. The ceramic rods, too, lose their bite and become mirror smooth. Cleaning the black steel powder from the rods helps restore them a little, bit only a little. After 100 uses the ceramic rods are no better than a sharpening steel.
