Modern bowie
I have not had this knife for long, so I am going on initial impressions and small tests such as cutting paper etc. What a knife, it is so solidly built that it has a granite like quality about it. Razor sharp out of the box, it is just superb quality and I feel very privileged to own one. A great deal of saving went into raising what is to me the huge amount necessary, but in my view as a collector and keen bush craft man it was worth every penny. Beginning with the handle, it is made of very good rubber the name of which escapes me. It provides a huge amount of grip and is large enough for my huge powerful hands that I find a problem with in some smaller knives. There is a substantial full tang which can be seen at the end of the handle and could be used for hammering in a survival situation. There is a cross guard to protect your fingers from slipping down on to the blade. I won't go into the technicalities of the blade material but it is stainless steel, a very good steel. It came razor sharp and won't I don't think take much to keep it that way. I very rarely spend this much on a knife, I have a couple of Spartans that were around the same price and I would highly recommend anything Spartan - massive quality as is this knife. Highly recommended.
