Description

The Boker Swiss Dagger Mosaic Damascus has an extraordinary blade which is very complex to manufacture. It is one of the Royal Class of Damascus forging and serves to make this already impressive knife an absolute highlight in every knife collection.

In contrast to conventional Damascus, Mosaic Damascus doesn't rely on layering metal. Instead, complex-patterned Damascus bars are forged by hand into a mosaic in an elaborate process. To do this, the Damascus parcel, which initially consists of stacked layers, is cut up and reassembled in an offset form to create a unique mosaic pattern at the end faces of the bar. The Damascus is then cut up again and the complex process is repeated several times, the resulting pattern becoming finer and unique with each step. Finally, the individual parcels are stacked and forged in the shape of a square so that the ends of the individual pieces form a new surface. This extremely demanding forging process, which is mastered by very few Damascus-smiths, is carried out to perfection for the Boker Swiss Dagger by Chad Nichols.

The blade, sharpened and pointed on both sides, historically has a diamond-shaped cross-section, because this construction proved to be extremely stable and effective. The design of the pommel and the crossguard is characteristic of the Swiss Dagger. The unusual, curved handle design can be traced back to the early 13th century. The shimmering dark handle made of hand-picked certified imported Ebony is bordered by the highly polished pommel and the crossguard and forms a perfect union with the fine blade.

The leather sheath, specially designed and hand-sewn for this model, underlines the exclusivity of this coveted collector's item. It is delivered with an individual serial number in a fine wooden box with a certificate of authenticity.

Handmade in the Boker Knife Manufactory Solingen and strictly limited to 500 pieces worldwide.

Boker Solingen mosaic damask Swiss dagger

Posted by Trevor Lawrence on 27th Nov 2025

A real extravagence for me and my first purchase of a top end blade. The blade is a mosaic damask and is topped with an Ebony handle which alltogether looks stunning. It feels well balanced and the handle is a comfortable fit in my large hand. Holding the knife though for me reveals the pointed edges of the "hand guard" and if I was using the knife for a time I may find the grip uncomfortable. Overall though I love this piece. It comes in a wooden box with foam padding, the knife sits on foam above a compartment where the scabbard resides. The Scabbard too is a lovely piece of work in leather, for me though the execution had a couple of shortfalls which considering the money I paid should not have been present. First off is the fit to the blade. When I had removed blade and scabbard from the presentation box and attempted to fit the blade in the scabbard, no matter how much force I applied I could not get the blade fully home, best I could do was within 5mm of fully home, Getting the blade out again was similarly problematic. Looking at the leather work showed the very top part of the sheath to appear pinched where a finishing band had been sewn on. The distance involved would be fractions of a mm but enough to cause a problem. (Poor quality control, I would guess the blade had never been inserted into the Scabbard). I have sort of corrected the problem by using a round file and filing the leather in the vicinity of the blade edges beneath where the leather finishing strip lies. It's still a tight fit but it now seats fully home. My own knife is number 236 so I wonder how previous purchasers got on with their scabbard?
