The Tramontina Machete is probably one of the best value chopping tools that we sell here at Heinnie Haynes. From garden work and brush clearance to harvesting Brussels sprouts, shelter building and trekking through thick jungle, the Tramontina Machete is a great sidekick to have!

It’s bolo shape provides a large cutting edge (ideal for choppers), and it also boasts great forward throwing weight whilst not being too front heavy.

As it is a chopping tool do not expect this machete to be razor sharp out of the box. However, you should expect a chopping tool that will make pretty light work over most tasks. After all it is made in Brazil where they know a thing or two about making machetes!

For ease of carrying the machete has also been supplied with PVC leather look sheath with includes a belt loop.

    Good.

Posted by Dan on 14th Aug 2020

I recieved my Bolo a few days ago, arrived unbelievably quickly as always with HH.
The last 3 inches of the blade towards the tip on mine had no edge at all. 40 minutes with a file, cheap pocket sharpening stone & a leather strop & it was as sharp as a razor.
I've chopped a few logs in the garden to test it out & it seems like a solid tool.
It's now in my SHTF kit.

What a wonderfull tool always thought they were a bit ott but having used one one on a recent wild camp im a convert. The sheath leaves a bit to be desired but for the price you can't really complain.

I discarded my sheath and made a light plywood sheath that works well. A great tool and a good price with mega quick delivery whats not to like. Do yourself a favour and get one

Big, sharp and weighty at the tip

Posted by keefo on 4th Aug 2020

I do some self employed gardening work in my spare time and I have had a Martindale Golok for a while which works well but I wanted something with a bit more reach and power at the tip. The Tramontina came decently sharp already, I just had to knock a burr off one edge. The sheath is better than some I have seen but I will be making something stronger from a length of PVC drain pipe to ensure that this tool does not cut its way out on the draw. the handle feels the same as my martindale and can be sanded to fit, I will me drilling a hole for a lanyard so I don't accidentally fling it through someone's conservatory window while working. A rough and ready product that is exceptional value for money and a breeze to sharpen. highly recommended.

    Update - Still Excellent

Posted by Clive from Windsor on 14th Jul 2020

Had this nearly a year. Really great tool for woodland use for tackling branches up to 2", thorns, nettles etc. Steel blade is quality: holds a good edge; easy to sharpen; feels indestructible. Handle good too though a bit of rubber inner rube wrapped round & secured with cable tie improves grip greatly. I would love another Tramontina with a blade 2 inches longer, i.e. about 41cm. Any chance of that HH?

The least costly knife I possess but the most enjoyable to use.

Bargain of the year for me!!!

Posted by Griff. on 7th Jun 2020

I spent hours looking at which machete to buy as I wanted one that lasted, I purchased for general bushcraft. Arrived next day. Mine only needed a quick touch up with an oilstone, one slight burr to remove and good to go. I have been using it all day to clear overgrown riverside paths, chopping through some pretty hefty branches and tough bendy ash. After a few hours of use I definitely hit a rock or 2 and not one dink in the blade.!!! They have definitely mastered the tempering of the steel. When I get chance I may linish the handle down a little and varnish. For the price this is such a bargain. You won't be disappointed!

    Excellent base to work from

Posted by Ruukuu on 18th May 2020

Everyone knows Tramontina machetes are good, so at this price is a no brainer buying one or two of them. But if you have a shed or garage with some tools, and you have a little common sense and an aptitude for working with your hands, then this machete can be made so much better. Sharper, better looking, more comfortable and safer to use.

I wish i could show you a picture of what it could look like with an hour or twos work.

So if you are still on lockdown and bored as hell, then buy one ….or more.....and have a go at modding them. keep for yourself or give to a friend who gardens, as a gift.

But please, PLEASE work safe.....its a huge chunk of sharp steel and accidents can....and do happen.

    Ruukuu.
