    Marbles jungle Bowie

Posted by Cheap and cheerful. on 17th Jul 2024

I love these things, this is my second one now , I gave my first one away and regretted it ever since so l bought another one and this one is staying with me. They are crude, they're not the prettiest thing ever but they are simple and tough and pretty unbeatable for the price, a lot of tool for the money. The handles are rough out of the packaging but l actually like having the opportunity to get the emery paper out and refine the handle to what I want. These knives are ideal for someone who wants to start out in bushcraft,or maybe a first large blade for a youngster, they're also the best possible starting point if you want to begin learning how to customise and re finish your own tools. Everyone should have one of these versatile tools.

    Basic honest tool

Simple honest tool, no frills chopper. I have sanded the orange off and use as kindling chopper and it works. Cheap so not going to get upset if i damaged it. Bargain

    somewhat disappointed

Fast delivery, but very blunt. Handle needed sanding and might be a problem if you have large hands. should I complain for something under £20? Once sharpened it should be good for chopping small stuff around camp.

    El Salvador’s usual..

The marbles Bowie Machete is simply remarkable value for money. It’s essentially as fit for purpose as any other. The steel is as you’d expect. The tool itself stands up to serious abuse. So by that merit it will stand up to serious work for many years if care is taken. I’ve a couple of these. One will remain stock and be used regularly as a camp knife; the other will be spruced up a little for a friend. The Marbles parang however is the best value of the bunch. A massive piece of steel for 20 quid?! Reasonably well balanced and with a bit of scale adjustment is remarkably comfortable to use for hours on end. Timber just begs you to chop it..

    Awesome Marbles Bowie!

This is a fantastic bowie! Great for the camp and garden! Keeps a wicked edge, strong full tang, blade is not the thickest but prefer anyway, more like a mini machete! I've another on back order... just in case they stop production!

    A true performer

Posted by Phil on 1st Dec 2016

This blade is truly exceptional for the price it arrives sharp and ready to go, a real trooper of a blade. The handle however isnt particularly great, while comfortable in the hand the fit and finish is a little poor but can be fixed with some sanding or perhaps even replacing it altogether. Well worth the buy for such a low price.

    Not cheap, but inexpensive.

Posted by Paddy on 14th May 2016

Got this as a gift and have been very pleased with it. Could be sharper when you first get it but its a machete type tool so it dosent need to be scalpel sharp, but it will take a very keen edge. The painted finish seems to be holding up ok. I have stripped the varnish and paint off the handle and smoothed the edges out and gave it a good treatment with boiled linseed oil and the wood took a nice colour. Shame HH dont do a deal on the blade and sheath. Buy one abuse it then buy another. Well worth it.
