Description

The TOPS Silent Hero was designed by Anton Du Plessis, who is the Chief of Operations for the Specialized Interdiction Unit of the Silent Heroes Foundation. His task is to fight the poaching crisis in South Africa. This knife has to be durable, versatile, and able to fill Anton’s needs in the field, which affected the design of the blade and the handle. It will definitely hold up to hard use and with a weight of only 340g (12oz.), you’ll be able to use the knife without getting fatigued too quickly.

You’ll notice there is a lanyard hole in the handle along with another in the finger guard. This is meant to allow the user to add a safety cord in order to improve the grip on the handle, which already allows for a solid grip. There is a finger choil up into the blade to give you the ability to execute precise, fine cuts. The drop point design makes this knife great for slicing and gives the tip extra strength. The black leather sheath is durable and looks great paired with this knife. The Silent Hero is held in place with a single snap loop that curls around the finger guard.

The Silent Hero is a great design that lends to a very versatile blade. It is not so large that it can only be used to chop, but is also still big enough to complete most of the tasks you can do or want to do with a smaller knife. It is TOPS intention to ensure that a portion of all sales of this knife are used to help the Silent Heroes Foundation in their endeavours.

    I still love my silent hero,, there are some things to know. Within a week the coating started to peel away, which ITops did offer to fix under warranty but shipping to the US was going to be a pain. I ended up accidentally stripping the coating on the blade trying to treat the rust. I then used vinegar to force a patina For some reason it rusts less now stripped?? I live on the west coast of Scotland by the sea. Consider your environment before going non stainless! We do live on a cold wet horrible island after all!

    I’ve been looking at this knife for many years and decided to go for it. This is a lovely knife! The handle is quite small so might not suit people with giant big bear paws but my hands are a bit small and girlie so suits me well. My first job was to spread shoo goo on the retaining strap. Shoo goo is a shoe repair glue that drys as a polyurethane rubber. The way the retaining strap is designed it is easy to keep it away from the blade with your fingers but just a second of carelessness could cause problems. I might wrap some tape around the strap as well. Blade is awesome and came really sharp.

    just received my knife, definitely an all round knife, comes razor sharp, nice feel about it in the hand, no doubt will be quick, manouvreable, and a strong blade, knife scales nice and grippy, love the holes at both ends of handle gives multi uses, sheath very well made and all in all an extremely useful back up addition to my main knife, cannot find any fault at all, well pleased

    What more can I say other than I am struggling to think of anything that needs improvement on this knife, great balance, comfortable grippy handle, slices full flat grind but you know it's super tough. In fact it's so great I've got a second Love it Sam
