Forged in New Zealand for the Von Tempsky range, this is Svord’s literal “big chopper” – a modern golok that shirks subtlety in favour of dependable utility. Designed by B.W. Baker, it sports a stout 8670 high‑carbon steel blade from heel to tip. The flat, sheepsfoot‑style edge runs nearly the full length – about 13¼ in (≈ 33.7 cm) – backed by roughly 7 mm thickness, ensuring the weight stays forward and eases chopping into wood or thick vegetation.
The full tang is dressed with dark wenge‑wood scales, affixed by robust brass or stainless fittings and topped with a steel S‑guard – sensible, tactile and unpretentious. Tucked away securely in a vertical black‑leather belt sheath, it carries with simplicity and resilience.
Here’s why it’s more than just mass:
At about 19 in (≈ 48 cm) overall and tipping the scales at roughly 1.25 kg without sheath, it’s resolutely sizeable – a tool for clearing paths or managing chunky bushcraft tasks.
Designer & Brand
Svord, makers of the "Peasant Knives" line, draw deeply from historical roots – Major Gustavus von Tempsky's mid‑19th‑century Forest Rangers inspired this series. The golok echoes that heritage in form and function, while B.W. Baker’s design ensures a modern edge both literally and figuratively
