Designed specifically for budget-conscious knife users, the Spyderco Polestar is hands down one of the best values on the market. Inspired by the design of the best-selling byrd Raven 2, it is also a shining example of “reverse evolution” in the Spyderco product line.

The Polestar’s leaf-shaped blade is crafted from American-made CTS BD1 stainless steel and features a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole™ for quick, ambidextrous, one-hand opening. Its full-flat grind, PlainEdge cutting edge, and distal taper give it an exceptional combination of edge geometry, point utility, and low-friction cutting performance. Unlike the Raven 2, its edge extends the full length of the blade and does not include an index-finger choil. This maximizes the usable length of the cutting edge and allows powerful cuts with the heel of the blade.

The Polestar’s lightweight, ergonomic, open-backed handle features full, skeletonized stainless steel liners that provide outstanding structural strength and form the foundation of a stout LinerLock mechanism. To ensure a secure, hand-filling grip, the liners are capped with non-slip, textured gray G-10 scales. A strategically placed relief cut in the obverse side scale allows easy release of the lock mechanism and makes one-handed operation of the knife simple and intuitive. The handle also includes a four-position hourglass clip with a broad, triangular base that offers a choice of tip-up or tip-down carry on either side of the body.

Boasting all the defining qualities of a Spyderco knife in a wallet-friendly package, the Polestar sets a new standard in affordable high performance.

    An upgraded Tenacious (Kinda)

Posted by Pallen on 26th May 2020

First of all 5* for HH, as always, now onto the Polestar. This blade is very similar in form to the Spyderco Tenacious, in some aspects it is an improvement, however in others (mainly fit/finish and price) I was left a little disappointed. I purchased this knife in December 2019, it is one of my primary users so I wanted some time with it before reviewing. The good: - G10 scales look great and have a nice texture to them. - Decent blade steel (CTSBD1, a big improvement over the 8cr on the Tenacious) - Comfortable Handle, Good Ergo's. - Good jimping on the thumb ramp. - Razor sharp OTB, eats boxes for breakfast. - Good action The not so good: - The steel liners are very thin on this knife, so be careful when carrying out any harder-use tasks. - Poor fit/finish on the G10 handle scales, on my example, the G10 looks like it is peeling away around the pivot area, My Tenacious at £30 less has far better fit/finish overall, maybe I got a bad one? Overall, I do like the knife, it is a user for me so while i'm not too bothered about the fit/finish on the G10, I most definitely would have returned it if this was to be a collection piece as I don't feel there should be issues like this on a Spyderco at this price point. For anyone considering purchasing this knife, please take the above into account, also consider that you can get a Tenacious for a good chunk less, or a Delica/Endura for just a little bit more. If you still have your heart set on the Polestar, the Pro's do outnumber the cons and i'm confident it will serve you well!

    Favourite EDC knife

Posted by Yeti on 23rd Apr 2020

Spent some time reviewing various mid range Spyderco products and went for this fantastic Polestar. First impressions: I find it large enough for my big hands with a good cutting length on the blade. Grey/blue scales give the knife a understated less aggressive look, to the usual black items. Owned for a week now, so once out of lockdown I'll give a more comprehensive review. But all looking very positive
