An upgraded Tenacious (Kinda)
First of all 5* for HH, as always, now onto the Polestar. This blade is very similar in form to the Spyderco Tenacious, in some aspects it is an improvement, however in others (mainly fit/finish and price) I was left a little disappointed. I purchased this knife in December 2019, it is one of my primary users so I wanted some time with it before reviewing. The good: - G10 scales look great and have a nice texture to them. - Decent blade steel (CTSBD1, a big improvement over the 8cr on the Tenacious) - Comfortable Handle, Good Ergo's. - Good jimping on the thumb ramp. - Razor sharp OTB, eats boxes for breakfast. - Good action The not so good: - The steel liners are very thin on this knife, so be careful when carrying out any harder-use tasks. - Poor fit/finish on the G10 handle scales, on my example, the G10 looks like it is peeling away around the pivot area, My Tenacious at £30 less has far better fit/finish overall, maybe I got a bad one? Overall, I do like the knife, it is a user for me so while i'm not too bothered about the fit/finish on the G10, I most definitely would have returned it if this was to be a collection piece as I don't feel there should be issues like this on a Spyderco at this price point. For anyone considering purchasing this knife, please take the above into account, also consider that you can get a Tenacious for a good chunk less, or a Delica/Endura for just a little bit more. If you still have your heart set on the Polestar, the Pro's do outnumber the cons and i'm confident it will serve you well!
