In the summer of 1898, Teddy Roosevelt began to organize the 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry for what seemed to be an inevitable and difficult battle with the Spanish. Over 23,000 men volunteered to ride with Roosevelt, but he whittled that
number down to 2,000 handpicked cavalrymen. The men hailed from every corner of the United Sates. They were Princeton football players, native Americans, trail-wise cowboys, aristocratic Englishmen, polo players, and even Rhodes Scholars. They came from every state and social class the United States had to offer.

Roosevelt's quintessential choice was equal parts cowboy and soldier. He was a man who could ride out and defeat the Spanish every day of the week. He was the best of the best. These men, who defeated the Spanish at the grueling battle of San Juan Hill later that summer, became known as Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. The Rough Rider brand honours the tradition of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders by choosing the very best knife patterns and materials from around the world and building the perfect line of personal cutlery.

From the classic Mother of Pearl Stockman with 440 Stainless Steel blades to the long, sleek lines of a Tactical Linerlock, Rough Rider offers the finest craftsmanship and the best cutlery, and like the Rough Riders, these knives are always ready every day of the week.

This is a TINY knife, but still of use. Mine had a few flaws, but not bad.

    Not happy with the quality

Posted by christopher on 29th Jun 2014

This is my second Rough Rider knife. Very impressed with the first one but this one isn't of the same standard. The knife arrived the following day, great service as usual, but within a couple of minutes of getting the knife out of the box, the scales fell of one side. The scales just appear to be glued on; there is no rivet (unlike the photo in the product description). I will be returning the knife for a refund, and won't be ask for a replacement as it's smaller than I thought it would be and the general quality doesn't seem to very good compared to the larger model that I have (think I'll probably go for the sowbelly instead). Great little knife.

Bought this for my wife, and we're both knocked out by the quality of construction. It's just beautiful, no other word for it.

    Not Usual Rough Rider Quality

Posted by Jon on 7th Feb 2014

As another reviewer has stated the scales on this are glued rather than pinned and mine arrived with them both off. I own a couple of other Rough Rider knives and this seems much lower quality than the others. As always superb service from Heinnie. Jon

Sweet little knife, holds an edge and perfect for sharpening a pencil or whittling discreetly. It may be small but packs a big punch!

Bought this as a present for my grandad who collects Miniature knives. He liked it so must be good. Overall it was well finished and good quality.
