First of all I previously owned two RR pocket knives from HH and ended up gifting them to other people which I regret now as I am starting a collection of small pocket knives . So having received this particular model from HH usual fast and efficient service I can say the overall look and feel of the French Tickler is better than anticipated despite its name sounding like some model of condom ! So lets get the bogey man out of the way now , yes these knives are made in China but I have to say here and now that in no way detracts from the aesthetics ( which are beautiful ) , the look and the fit and finish of the RRs Ive had . Whatever people say RR knives and I would include similar Marbles pocket knives also have certainly upped their manufacturing game to produce some absolutely first class models at extremely competetive prices ! This particular knife a lovely amber colour bone jigged scales fitted with nicely corresponding brass bolster , rivets and tapering end cap and even the finely made RR badge on the side of one scale really sets it off . This knife like many in the RR range is fitted with brass spacers which I particularly like in any knife as it reminds me of the old school sheffield pen knives when I was a lot younger . It has an easy opperable back lock which releases the blade into a nice snap to lock it in position . The transition from scales to the brass bolster hardware is as near perfect as its possible to be and the overall fit and finish is once again near perfect . The single blade has no movement sideways or vertically up or down and is centred perfectly . In all a very nice looking knife which would also make a great gift . I will finish by saying as with most knives there will always be a few that dont come up to scratch because of various faults during manufacture but Im sure HH would address that if needed . My knife as i say was as near perfect as possible , 5 stars
Excellent knife
This is a cracking little knive just the right size for the manbag (lads) or handbag (lasses). Was a bit concerned about it being “made in China” but the quality is much better than I expected. Jigged bone handle makes it a very tactile companion. Will be ordering another when back in stock ?
Really happy with both delivery and blade. Basically a locking French laguiole knife, slender and classy with a smooth action, good lockup with a small amount of side to side wobble. Finish far better than expected for the price. Many more rough riders on the horizon.
An attractive knife at an attractive price.
One of my favourite Rough Riders, the Tickler looks like a large toothpick but with a lock-back, a slight swell belly and a flared bolster at the pivot end. The brass bolsters really set off the amber jigged bone scales. Arrived very sharp. Not perfect (some tiny gaps and a little blade wobble), but for the money and the lovely looks I must still give it 5 stars.
For the money , this is an outstanding knife , worth every penny . The amber jigged bone handle scales compliment the nicely polished brass bolsters , rivets , and inlaid shield . The handle is thin , but fits nicely in the hand , the edges of the handle are squarish and can be considered sharp , not cutting sharp , but the edges could have been rounded off better . It had no significant gaps at the back spring or locking system . It has a decent sized blade with a secure locking system , and no wobble at the hinge when opened . The blade was sharp , but not razor sharp , until I sharpened it so . It is a stunning knife , and a pleasure to own . I am very glad I bought this beauty .
This is a lovely little folding knife. It would make a great everyday pocket knife to carry. Great value for money. It really saddens me that knives like this, a perfect pocket knife, are illegal as a day to day carry knife in the UK. Yet knives like the Lansky World Legal, which looks like a slab of tactical combat blade, are legal. The UK governments heavy handed legislation of lock knives and anything longer than 3" is tragic. Especially when most attacks are done with stolen kitchen knives. The French Tickler is a lovely pen knife. Perfect for everyday tasks and looks great doing them. The finish on this knife is good, but is slightly let down by a poor fit. With obvious gaps between the metal parts and the handle scales. Also, the metal edges of the handle are all unfinished and are razor sharp. However, for £12. It's a great value pocket knife.
Excellent fit & finish from r/r and the shape of the handle fits the hand perfectly . I'm a big fan of r/rs and would recommend them to anyone . Pocket knives for pocket money , what's not to like great service from HH again thanks .
