This has made a surprising improvement to the knife considering how small it is, I dropped the grub screw 3 times before getting it fitted but thats my fat clumsy fingers and why I have the thumb stud to assist opening. Price is high but worth it if you need a help with opening some knives like me
Or at least the grey one I got says the material is Titanium. Either way it was easy to fit. I had not problem with the grub screw even with trying different positions and having to tighten it a couple of times. Now it has been on the Luna for a while it feels like it’s is part of the knife and not an add on.
Superb, much better than the generic fits all studs and really elevates the use of the Luna.
First one would not tighten down so had to get a replacement. Fits ok, and does help, but not as good as a permanent factory fitted thumb stud, and half the price of the actual knife.
Firstly, great service as ever from HH, however the quality of the Real Steel thumb stud is rubbish. I have been after one of these for ages, received it this morning and attempted to fit it only for the grub screw to round off. At first I blamed myself, managed to get the screw out only to find the thread does not go completely through the stud, so would never of tightened hence to rounding off. Very poor design.
You can open the knife with one hand now using this thumb stud, is it worth the extra money over a regular thumb stud ? Probably not but I went with it and it fits nicely
Simple design, simple application, one thing I would say use a decent quality allen key, think the supplied is made from cheese, but your buying the stud not a tool.
Grub screw rounded off .suspect hole not fully threaded now won't go in or out
Although service from Heinne was perfect the product was not. The grub screw failed straight away using the supplied Alan key meaning I had to pull the thumb stud off with a pliers.
