Benchmade Taggedout

The Benchmade Taggedout is Benchmade's answer to backcountry hunters who measure pack weight in grams rather than kilograms. Introduced in 2022 and inspired by the phenomenally successful Bugout, the model 15535 takes the ultralight folding knife concept into dedicated hunting territory. The Taggedout features purpose-built geometry and materials chosen specifically for field dressing, skinning and camp work when you're miles from the nearest vehicle.

What sets the Taggedout apart is its ruthless focus on weight reduction without sacrificing capability. At just 59.5g, this folder delivers a full 8.9cm clip point blade in CPM 154 steel. Benchmade applies SelectEdge technology for exceptional out-of-the-box sharpness. The high-visibility orange Grivory handle ensures you won't lose the knife in leaf litter or snow. Abundant grip texturing provides solid purchase even with cold or wet hands. The clip point geometry excels at precise work around bones and joints during field dressing.

Available configurations include the base model in orange Grivory, upgraded versions with G10 handles and S45VN steel, and premium carbon fibre editions featuring MagnaCut blade steel. The model 15536 offers OD green G10, tan Grivory and deep olive Grivory for those preferring more subdued aesthetics. The AXIS lock provides ambidextrous operation, critical when wearing gloves.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What makes the Taggedout different from the Benchmade Bugout?
+
The Benchmade Taggedout is inspired by the Bugout platform but modified specifically for hunting applications. Key differences include the clip point blade geometry rather than the Bugout's drop point, optimised for precision work during field dressing. The Taggedout uses CPM 154 steel in base models (versus CPM-S30V in standard Bugouts) with SelectEdge technology for exceptional factory sharpness. The handle features more aggressive texturing for secure grip in wet conditions. High-visibility orange Grivory ensures you won't lose the knife outdoors. The Taggedout also uses a thumb hole rather than thumb studs on some models, making it easier to clean after processing game.
Are there different blade steel options available for the Taggedout?
+
The Benchmade Taggedout range is available in several blade steel configurations, depending on the specific model. The base 15535 features CPM 154 stainless steel, known for excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. Upgraded models use CPM S45VN for enhanced toughness and wear resistance. Premium carbon fibre editions feature MagnaCut steel, offering the best combination of edge retention, toughness and corrosion resistance available in production knives. Recent variants also include Elmax super steel, comparable to M390 in performance. All versions receive Benchmade's SelectEdge treatment for exceptional out-of-the-box sharpness.
Why is the Taggedout marketed as a lightweight hunting knife?
+
The Benchmade Taggedout is marketed as a lightweight hunting knife because it specifically targets backcountry hunters who travel long distances on foot. At 59.5g, it weighs less than half what traditional hunting folders typically weigh, making a significant difference when you're carrying a full pack for miles. The slim profile and Grivory construction reduce bulk without sacrificing the 8.9cm blade length needed for effective field work. Despite the weight savings, the knife maintains full functionality for skinning, field dressing and camp tasks. This makes it ideal for mountain hunters, backpack hunters or anyone who prioritises pack weight for extended wilderness trips.
