    Ontario OKC Traveler - Flimsy

Posted by Mart on 21st Dec 2020

First the good points , nice blade , sharp , easy to open , smooth slip joint . Now the not so good ... the orange plastic is the body of the knife not just a scale , there is no separate bolster . With the blade deployed squeezing the orange plastic deflects it alarmingly , also there is a good deal of sideways play on the blade , whether a turn of the pivot screw might tighten this up I don’t know yet . This knife is very poor value at £15 , in fact at £5 I’d still not be convinced .

Two and a half stars really.

I quite liked this knife when I bought it. The back spring weakened within a short time with wear on the pivot screw and flimsy handle. I tried to tighten it with a quality torx screw driver but it was either cross threaded or secured with locktite. A just about OK knife will not be travelling with me any more.

    Very happy

A good little knife, it weighs very little and is discreet in the pocket but once you take it out the brightly coloured handle will help stop you from misplacing it that's for sure! The blade and handle geometry are great and provide a good level of comfort & functionality too All-in-all, a good knife especially for the cost - would highly recommend

    Pleasantly surprised

Great little knife, very sharp out of the box, small drop point blade, very good around the house and office. For the money im extremely happy. it's been in my pocket ever since I opened it not that you can notice it in there. I normally carry considerably more expensive knives but I'm enjoying this too.

    Useful little knife.

So, a first impressions review. It's light, orange handle is bright enough to see without punching you in the eyeballs. You want that because it sharpens up to a razor edge. Back spring is quite soft which I prefer in a knife of this size. I have adjusted the pivot so as to give me a good amount of retention in the open position. Handle is big enough to get a decent three finger hold even with my XL mitts. So ,uses? Definitely a good choice for a legal pretty much anywhere knife. Also a good choice for putting in your survival tin. I'm adding mine to my small tools kit. The one I carry when I can't, for whatever reason, pack bigger tools. Recommended? Yes, I think so.
