LionSteel Bestman 13 Wood 18

I have just received my LionSteel Santos Bestman 13 from HH. Straight out of the box you can see and feel the quality. The Santos wood scales have a lovely grain and the titanium bolsters look very professional. The overall weight and feel are perfect for every day use with no uncomfortable edges or points. The two blades are extremely useful shapes and sizes with good blade thickness. Both have very positive half stops and the full stops are pretty positive with a good amount of closure resistance but not too much. Each blade has a nail notch on either side which makes opening and closing very easy. A nice mix of form and function which will get a lot of use. It’s not a cheap knife but the quality of manufacture and the M390 steel justify the cost. I certainly do not regret saving up for this beauty. Well done LionSteel for a great bit of kit, and well done to HH for getting this to me so quickly.

Not a cheap knife, but worth every penny! It's a very nice update on the traditional slipjoint pocket knife, and should appeal to fans of both traditional and modern styles. The quality hits you as soon as you take it out of the box - the fit & finish is flawless. There's a decent feeling of weight in the hand but it's light enough for pocket carry. Both blade edges are neatly ground and both blades are very sharp and perfectly centered. The Santos wood, which I believe is a type of Mahogany, has a lovely grain and colour and the satin finish on the blades co-ordinates well with the grey titanium bolsters. Both blades have a half-stop and are flush in all three positions. There were traces of white goo on the blade tangs, which I take to be silicone grease -a nice touch! Each blade has it's own backspring, although there's no central spacer. Looking inside the handle you can see two substantial pins that serve as blade stops, so you can snap the blade closed without damaging the edge. Can you tell I'm impressed? This one is a moderrn classic... Well done Lionsteel! As always, faultless service from HH makes the buying experience a plaesure.
