Description

The Kanetsune TANZAKU -TOU Folding Knife is crafted in the heart of Japanese knife and sword making history, Seki City. Quality is therefore guaranteed! The stye is a traditional one found in this area for hundreds of years and the precision manufacture is quite exceptional.

“TANZAKU” means rectangular peace of metal or paper and the design is indeed a "blocky" one. The handle is two billets of brushed stainless steel with back spacers and a liner creating a bang on locking mechanism. The blade has a flat, Wharncliff form with a raised and extended jimping area allowing one handed opening with the thumb. It is made from AUS8 stainless steel sharpened to an extraordinary edge.

It has a pocket clip attached which can be removed for tip up or down carry.

    Excellent Quality Knife

Posted by Stephen Randall on 12th Jan 2026

I love the quality of the construction of the knife. The design is slightly quirky in that the blade sticks out somewhat when closed, but isn't dangerous. The locking mechanism isn't historically correct for the knife but does make it practical. Overall I am very happy with it

    Elegant

It's a beautiful thing. A work of art as slender as a 1960s fashion model but strongly built. The blade is razor sharp. I just sliced open a sachet of yeast. It didn't feel like I touched the packet. The blade doesn't lie flat in the handle I can't see anything . No matter. I'm in love.
