A RAT 1 killer ? .... Hmm

I've had my eye on the new Becker BK40 ever since I saw the pre-release publicity on the electronic interwebs at the start of 2021. I liked the look of it. Yet there was a raft of adverse comments in the stateside forums. Our colonial cousins in our former overseas territories were not impressed with the blade steel, handle material or country of manufacture. They wanted D2 steel and micarta handles. Yet there is nothing wrong with AUS8 steel, it's a lot more stainless than D2 - and as for micarta handles, well yes ok, if you are prepared to pay the extra to swap out scales that are already rock hard and durable. I got my one from HH as soon as they had stock of it in. I have not been disappointed. I was not sure about the pocket clip, I thought it would ruin the feel of the classic Becker "coke-bottle" shaped scales with distinctive, and comfy, palm swell. It does a bit, but having tried it in all the four possible positions provided - and without - I went back to the original out of the box configuration. The clip holds well and slips easily into and out of a pocket. BTW one review I saw on YouTube stated the Torx screw for the pocket clip was a T5. It isn't it's a T6 - I know this because I duly went out and spent my hard earned on a T5 driver, only to find it was wrong. This is a proper handful of a folding knife. Ethan Becker and the company have made sensible choices about design and materials. It is a genuine alternative to the RAT 1 - which is great knife choice, although some models are less expensive than the BK40 . It will all come down to personal preferences. I'm glad I have both the RAT1 in AUS8 and a BK40, so that's a brain spin I won't have to experience. I will just pick up either one depending on my mood. Job done

A typical KA-BAR knife built to last...The blade is wider than most lock knives but it works a treat ...I took the pocket clip off as it spoilt the look of the knife IMP...So far it has kept a good edge...Great value for money...........
