Good knife however be wary of using the tip for finer work, mine managed to chip ever so slightly when butchering its first fallow deer. Not quite sure how it happened, there was no excessive force or prying but when cleaning afterwards I noticed the very tip had chipped. 4 stars may be generous however the blade held up well otherwise and the shape and design are spot on. Smaller than I imagined (which is a good thing!)
Perhaps the best knife you can buy from the best knife company in the world. Why? Because this knife was designed with outdoor strength in mind, yet as previous reviewers have alluded too it slices like a kitchen knife. This is rare with outdoor knives. The blades lamination process and convex edge gives the F2 the strongest blade for its foot print in the world. Make no mistake about it, due in part to the 2.5mm blade stock this knife will effortlessly section a bullock carcass, yet also fillet a small fish and process vegetables in the kitchen. This knife goes with me on all my fishing adventures, yet also doubles as a kitchen/ light camp duties utilities knife. The knife is highly portable in part to its lighweight and its size is perfect- it will dress anything. If that wasn't enough the VG10 steel, which is simply the best field steel there is, can be easily maintained to scary sharp levels and holds a keen edge. As an overall commercial knife you would buy for slicing and for adequate strength, this is the best I have ever come across in 43 years. Highly recommended.
By reducing the thickness of this new production to 2.5mm, Fallkniven have taken the F2 to new heights of performance. It is light in the hand and extremely agile. There is a slight flex in the blade and the exposed tang has gone. The only problem the owner of the new F2 will be faced with is deciding what kind of an edge to put on it, ?toothy? or ?polished?, ?micro bevel? or ?zero ground?. Zero ground and polished, it makes for a spectacular whittler.
This makes a very fine but sturdy fishing knife although the blade is quite thick it fillets trout no problem, tough enough for heavier tasks and feels it will last a lifetime.
