The CRKT Snap Lock held the knife world in rapture when it won the Most Innovative Knife Award at the 2004 Blade Show. CRKT have breathed new life into this unique everyday carry folder. If you think that it might be all show and no substance, spend a mere minute with it and you’ll do a 180° swing yourself.

To open, simply press the front cam lever mechanism down with your thumb and rotate the blade outward until it fully extends and securely clicks into place. To close the knife, press down on the cam lever to disengage then swing the blade back into the closed position. Once the blade is in the closed position, no part of the edge is exposed and the knife is secure to carry.

From his shop in Abingdon, Virginia, Ed Van Hoy dreamed up this historical design. It’s not only one of the most unique knives on the market, but it’s one of the most useful—it features a money clip, and is remarkably low profile so it’s never a burden to have on hand.

The stainless steel blade has a subtle drop point shape. When closed, the matching wishbone frame is a 100% effective blade edge guard. The unique open mechanism becomes instantly intuitive once you push down on the front cam lever then rotate the blade outwards for a full 180°. The handle features a one position pocket clip for convenient carry.

Elegant blade

Ello there here is my review and a beautiful blade, it is a amazing sleek design of a master mind of craftsmanship, I brought is as a present for my brother and the smile that appeared on his face was wonderful was a great experience, once he had showed my father he was so happy as well so will be buying one for his b day and probably will be buying one for my self eventually…………. great little knife

got this knife when it first came out over ten years ago and it is still my go to knife when I need one that I can trust. as I sit typing this review the knife is in my pocket having just opened one of those stupid plastic packages that you get. when it came the edge was one of the sharpest I have known and it still is sharp enough for every day use. I think that I would be lost without it.

I bought one of these years ago because the folding style intreged me. The blade wasn't that sharp, but good enough for cutting through everyday concerns (tiewraps, tape etc). It folding method, especially once you get fast at it, was more for show. HOWEVER... the two pivot dowels are very, very weak and after a couple of years one snapped

It is what it is

I find the other reviews kind of harsh to be honest. With this knife i think your a little bit foolish if your expecting to fend off wild bear, or hack down a 100 year old oak to build a cabin. This knife is an ideal EDC for light "real world" tasks, opening boxes, cutting rags ect, the engineering seems great, no play what so ever in the blade and is engineered to wear in rather then get floppy (kinda like how a good liner self adjusts). This is a updated version of the snap lock and see people pointing out flaws from the V1 which i find a little unfair. This is defiantly not a daily heavy use knife but for something to have on hand everyday.....perfect......and hot dam its shaving sharp, my arm is now covered in bold patches from messing with it. Alot of people seem to think the pocket clip is reversible but im afraid its not, due to the way its bent fitting it onto the other side wont work unless you re-bend it with a vice and abit of tweaking, not a problem for me as im right handed but just a heads up for you lefty's. great conversation starter and a non threatening design.

I mistyped in my previous review. I meant to type "NOT" reversible. If the clip is removed it allows the knife to be opened both directions but the clip is right hand carry only.

Nothing more than a curiosity piece

One of the stranger knives out there. Not one I will be using but one that will sit as part of my collection. The blade came extremely sharp. The opening method is odd. The frame essentially clamps the blade in place and the centre "wheel" you push down openes the frame up and allows 360 degree spinning of the blade (if you take of the pocket clip, which is reversible by the way). It feels like a solid lock and though it can be done, opening one handed isn't particularly easy. It isn't a very comfortable knife to hold, if you plan on using it. It is thin and there is practically no handle to grip. The little bit of jimping there is seems to be on the wrong side of the handle (where the forefinger would sit, and not the thumb). I got it as nothing more than a collection piece so 4/5 for that. If you were planning on using it if give it probably 2/5.
