Paying tribute to the hira-zukuri—a classical Japanese straight sword—knifemaker James Williams brings us the HZ4, building on the success of the HZ6.

The blade is made of SK-5 carbon steel, chosen for its edge retention and resilient to rust due to the black coating. A full tang and G10 handle ensure it's firm in hand and well balanced.

The HZ4 comes with a Kydex Sheath with durable Boltaron® mounting options.

I bought one because I love Japanese martial history and have a collection of several original tantos as well as modern interpretations. This is so good I bought a second. Would love the HZ6 as well if it ever becomes available.

CRKT HZ4 Black Fixed Blade I wanted something a bit different. This is a stunning knife! The upswept Japanese straight sword style in a tactical knife/dagger. More pointy than a bag full of pointy things and mega sharp out of the box. The black coating on this nice piece to steel, not only great protection but looks impressive with a substantial full tang! The Black G10 handle shape is distinctive with its cut-ins and grooves. The look and feel is brilliant. To be honest the whole knife is a work of art. Lovely! Fantastic fit into the well made kydex sheath with clip. Super impressed. Love this knife! Hennie Haynes brilliant sales and customer care as always. Outstanding.
