A fabulous blade. When I unwrapped it, it was a real 'Look out Mick, he's got a knife'. 'Nah,THIS IS A KNIFE!' moment. Will use it as a template too, as I want to experiment with different kinds of handles/scales.
An ok purchase , a lot of finnishing is needed to get rid of the concave on the blande and it’s not stainless steel as advertised, it’s magnetic!
NB Not All HH blanks on this site are only Braized on - Some of them are also pinned with Brass & are Not as easy to knock off as stated in Q&A - Cutting is awkward but safer. Also, it's worth noting that although HH seem to think these blanks only have paper labels in fact they ALL have 'Pakistan' etched on the obverse side which is not all that simple to remove, so if this is a problem then think twice before buying. Rather than grinding or polishing it off,it's probably easier to disguise it with additional etching. I don't really think it Is a problem - These are are all well made value for money blanks & the country of origin should not matter. This blade's a cracker & will make a weighty 15-16ins. Bowie knife to be proud.
Had a few of these and believe it or not they do make quite good working knife. Very sharp so watch those edges when fitting your chosen handle I personally use deer antler with the crown if poss. If it's slightly bent when you get straighten it out with the aid of a vice and a strong pair of hands and do NOT start jabbing it point first into a piece of wood so that you break the tip onlyl a nitwit would do that. Anyway that's my opinion on this knife blank Bob
I receiver the blank today, and whilst I know it only cost £22 I am disappointed in the blade. The blade itself seems to be concave, place a straight edge over it and there is a gap in the middle, in the light you can see the depressions in it. The brass hand guard is poor quality, loads of scratches, and what looks like blisters where the guard meets the blade, they might come out on the polisher. I only bought this blank as a tester for some new finishing kit i have, but still I expected a bit better than this. I will be buying more knife blanks from here but will look for better quality, there service is second to none.
2 stars because u get alot of steel for the money just a pity its crap. i broke the tip off mine after 30 minutes messing around with it (sticking it in an old table!!) but great service from heinnie as per... OUT.
