Perfect as a pocket carry, and beautifully designed
The design of this pencil is bang on for my needs. I wanted copper for it's antimicrobial properties, and a pencil that could be carried in my jeans pocket. I am also conscious of the relatively short life that pencil mechanisms seems to have. Copper is a risky material for pens / pencils. It is typically heavy and unbalanced and because of its softness it can easily damage if dropped but, more importantly, manufacturers often struggle with threading. All of those things are dealt with well, the threads are precisely and deeply cut and long enough to hold. The copper is solid, but despite that the weight and balance is very good. The grip is cut subtly so that it's effective but not abrasive and it way it hides the joint in the barrel is genius. As a pocket pencil all the problems of pencil mechanisms catching or getting damaged are addressed through the bolt action mechanism which retracts the pencil mechanism. I like the clip as well, and the pencil slides into a jeans pocket safely. The replaceable Schmidt mechanism is great and easy to swap out. The pencil comes with spare springs, o rings, bolt knob and two alternative mechanisms in different lead sizes. Be aware that, if you order replacement Schmidt mechanisms, you need to retain and swap out the push on metal lip that is supplied fitted on each of the supplied mechanisms. Aside from the replaceable internals, everything else appears to be of metal construction, so I believe the whole thing should have a long life and is easily maintainable for any parts that do wear over time.
