    Best pocket knife, best steel

Posted by Taylor John on 13th Aug 2024

I ordered the full size version first, it arrived quickly, beautifully packaged, very sharp OOTB, but it was very large in my hand, so much so that I had difficulty operating the rather stiff axis lock with one hand. I contacted Heinnie for a return so that I could order this mini version for comparison, and I got a very prompt and helpful email from Marie the next day. The mini version arrived as quickly as the first. I found it the perfect size for pocket carry, and it was easier to open or close one handed, using either the thumb stud or unlock and flip. The Bess sharpness is one of the lowest I have seen, and the Magnacut steel should keep an edge for a long time. I used a 15000 grit whetstone and strop to remove the faint grind marks and now it is beyond razor sharp. I am impressed with the addition of the cleaning cloth, but I have removed the clip and short lanyard as they both get in the way of an extremely good knife.

Excellent quality and build. Great looking knife and nice manageable size for my trekking and climbing exploits. HH excellent service as usual. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
