AustriAlpin Marine Snap

I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE TO REPLACE TWO EXTRA SMALL SWIVEL SNAP HOOKS (AS YOU SEE ON DOG LEADS) THAT WERE FITTED EITHER END OF 1CM WIDE "VERY THICK" RED HD CANVAS WEBBING ABOUT 60CM LONG THAT I USED TO ATTACH ONE END TO MY BELT LOOP & THE OTHER END TO MY KEYS. THE PROBLEM WAS THE EXTRA SMALL WHITE METAL SWIVEL SNAP HOOKS WERE NOT MAN ENOUGH FOR THE JOB AS ONE DAY I FOUND THE SNAP HOOK HAD UNCLIPPED ITSELF FROM THE BELT LOOP. LUCKILY I DID NOT LOSE MY KEYS BUT LESSON LEARNED SO I BOUGHT TWO AustriAlpin Marine Snap TO REPLACE THE USELESS EXTRA SMALL SWIVEL SNAPS. THEY ARE EXCELLENT !!!!! TEMPORARILY I HAVE USED TWO BRASS(TO COLOUR COORDINATE) SPLIT RINGS TO GO THROUGH THE CLOSED MARINE SNAPS SWIVEL LOOP & FED THAT THROUGH THE MY RED CORD LOOPS SEWED ON EACH END. I HAVE TWO OPTIONS TO FINISH THE JOB = 1/ CUT OFF THE EX-SM SNAPS WITH MY DREMMEL & THEN LEAVE AS IS OR 2/ CUT OFF THE OLD RED CORD LOOPS EITHER END & THEN FEED THE CORD THROUGH THE MARINE SNAP CLOSED SWIZEL & THEN SEW BY HAND TO CREATE NEW RED CORD LOOPS AT EITHER END,USING VERY STRONG THREAD? DEPENDING ON "my" SEWING THAT WOULD LAST HUNDREDS OF YEARS ! I AM VERY CONFIDENT THAT THESE AustriAlpin Marine SnapS ARE GREAT QUALITY & WILL NOT LET ME DOWN WHATEVER I USED THEM FOR = THE SNAP IS A VERY SOLID PERMANT CLOSED; UNLIKE OTHER CHEAPER SNAPS. I USE WHITE METAL SNAP HOOKS ON ALL MY BRACES SECURED TO THE BELT LOOPS; AS THE STANDARD CHEAP CLIPS ARE USELESS & ALWAYS PING OFF OF THE TROUSERS. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS MY BRACES CAN GET TWISTED- BUT SIMPLE TO UNTWIST. IF I WAS VERY RICH I WOULD BUY HUNDREDS OF THESE METAL AUSTRIALPINS TO REPLACE ALL MY CHEAP PLASTIC SNAP HOOKS = WHOEVER INVENTED PLASTIC DESERVES TO BE ****T !

Bought this because the standard clip that you get with most dog leashes is not secure in my opinion. On more than one occasion I have looked down to find that my dog has managed to get off the leash. Presumably because the clip has caught on his collar and been pushed open. This is a much better design with considerable overlap of the moving parts. You have to push down quite a bit to open it. I just need to figure out how to attach it to the leash or maybe braid a new leash myself from paracord.

Attractive bronze snap with positive secure lock up. Recommended

It is a solid, chunky piece of bronze with a nice action. Love it.

I've been looking for a strong and corrosion resistant trigger clip for some time. This ticks all the boxes. Great for lanyards, dog leads, wallet chains, and many more projects.
