Wuben G5 Flashlight What a fantastic piece of kit. Good portable size easy to stow away or carry. Small, tough and lightweight. Strong and bright light. Colour options and strobe/beacon nice add on. Mode button and dial easy to use. Also simple to charge. 180 degree for light together with clip. Can be used on a cap, hat, pocket, rucksack or belt. Numerous carry options. The magnet on the tail end is a nice little touch too. Really impressive kit supplied by Heinnie Haynes. Excellent!! Very very pleased.
G5 looks amazing for the price, with lots of features, but how does it measure up? It’s quick and intuitive to learn most of the functions without reading the manual. One quick press of the button to turn on, either colour or white . It comes on in the last mode you used it. Once on, a long press of the button toggles you between modes. From here the different colours or different brightness levels for white are accessed through a simple turning wheel. There is also a function to have alternate flashing from red-blue leds, like on an emergency vehicle but this seems like a novelty rather than any practical use due to the low power output of the colour leds: still, a fun prank for convincing your gullible friends that the “Feds” are outside. The unit also has flashing red-orange and red-yellow but these seem even less use than the red blue. Cool function yes: Useful function no. The leds are mounted in a 180 degree rotating head, so the light can also be adjusted to point where you need it, whether you are using the magnetic base or the pocket clip to hold in the torch in position. The pocket clip can be repositioned front-side-back very quickly without the need for tools; quite a unique feature. There is a slide cover for the USB-C charging port, which doubles as a power lockout so torch doesn’t get accidentally turned on in your pocket; again a simple, practical feature. In use, I have mine on my bed frame via the magnetic base, set to red. I am disabled and can need to be quite active in the night, so this is perfect to not disturb my wife. In other, real-world scenarios, the ability to switch between red and green is fantastic for nighttime navigation where red light washes out the brown contours on the map.. The white light output is stepped rather than being infinitely adjustable ( a feature you would pay over £100 for). I counted 8 steps total. There is quite a jump from low to medium, with the remaining 6 steps taking it from medium to high. Overall, a great, general edc torch, with good basic features (and some unnecessary flashy [literally] features). It’s not the brightest or the longest lasting, power wise, but it does what you want/ need it to do in a pleasing form factor. You don’t need 1000s of lumens with hours of power in your edc torch. Save your cash and buy something that is a size & weight that you will actually want to carry. And at a great price point for the quality and features.
