The TOPS Operator 7 Blackout Edition is huge! TOPS went big with thick steel and handles to make a hefty, well-balanced knife that will excel as a workhorse tool. But it also has those classic American aesthetics that make it look every bit as good as it will perform. And with the insane popularity of the original, this Blackout Edition was sure to follow.
Made out of 7.8mm thick 1075 carbon steel, the differentially heat treated blade will be impact resistant on the edge with a very strong spine. The handles start with Black Canvas Micarta on the bottom sandwiched with Black G10 on top that has a great texture for grip. The entire handle is also over 2.5cm thick once assembled to fill out the user's hand much like an ax or hatchet handle would.
Because it is a tool, it’s got to be useful and it's got to be comfortable. The rounded handles and handguard make it a joy to use and the finger choil allows the user to get great precision for finer cuts. The six and a half inches of cutting edge will suffice for the vast majority of cutting tasks, and the weight will help the knife to a lot of the work itself. The included Kydex sheath with rotating spring steel clip makes it easy to carry into whatever territory you find yourself.

Super cool beast mode knife which in all honesty is only going to come out when I want to show of to my mates its heavey looks great with a tight fitting solid sheath , Im glad its in my collection as needed some Tops representation to wonder at ,Excellent service from Heinnie as usual so thanks again guys
I have had mine for a couple of years and posted a review under the standard version on HH. I have added a Casstrom dangler changing the D ring for a less thick one as the original was too thick to go in the metal spring clip. I have also added the Tops Key A knife as a small buddy using cable ties and a ranger band made from inner tube. This fits.nice and flat against the sheath and has been secure for a couple of years. A great do it all combination and it fits nicely in a Bushcraft shoulder bag. Some knives become classics such as the BK 7 but in my opinion this is even better. Well worth the money.
Like many collectors I am always looking for the perfect version of certain knives. The Operator 7 fits perfectly into my favourite collection, possibly the best conflict resolution tool I've ever owned. A very good cheese cutter. It's a unique combination of speed, strength and ease of use that makes it so close to perfect that I can't think of any way to improve it. The fact that you can use it easily as a general purpose or bushcraft knife is also a real bonus. HH provided my previous favourite the CRKT Hammond FE9 but the Operator 7 is so much stronger that it wins the head to head easily. Buy one now, at this price it is a bargain that will probably outlive you (note that this review is written in the Covid19 epidemic).
