Nice high carbon steel knife. Needed a little honing on arrival but soon took a good edge. Chunky easily gripped knife- I have largish ( 9.5 '') hands and can grip it easily. Makes a great box opener and edc carry. Decent sheath and accessories, recommended.
Nice little utility blade, simple, durable, comes with a very decent sheath and a few extra gadgets; surely you won't regret buying one. Also, as always, fantastic delivery service from Heinnie, order placed yesterday around 2pm, delivered today at 8am :D
Just purchased my second ALRT... In my opinion this is the perfect fixed blade for edc use if you can legally carry one ( I can legally carry a fixed blade for work) and this thing is the dog's *******! It's simple, heavy duty, doesn't look threatening to most people due to it's small size, cut through rope, heavy duty zip ties and boxes like there nothing as well as being excellent for prying industrial staples out of boxes, wasn't to keen on the sheath at first but it holds the knife solid and i have full confidence in it. Liked it so much i bought a second one!
Factory edge out of the box will not even cut paper in its current state. Sharpening is difficult due the the short nature of the edge - there's not much to hold on to to keep the edge consistent. On the plus side, it's a sturdy bit of kit and the 1095 steel ought to hold up once a decent edge is ground. Comes with an led button light and a whistle. For the moment my palm sized blunt chisel will have to wait until I can fix the bevel with a jig. Excellent delivery service as always.
Very solid. I found it is very useful to slice cardboard, and I am sure this is what it meant to be used. The price is a steal, and as always, very good delivery service from Heinnie Haynes.
Spent some time with the lansky stones today and returned the edge to its factory 20 degrees bevel and smoothed out the rough machining to something better. Short of a complete alteration to a shallower bevel, this thing will never be a finesse tool, aside from the stock being far too chunky, the edge is a little short and most definitely flat (tanto style). However this is where it is designed to be; a strong utility edge with enough material behind the point of the blade to pierce without damage. It will take the hair off the back of my hand now, but it will never be as scary sharp as any of my moras - but then again what is? This will live in my emergency backup kit, along with a spare firesteel, cotton buds and all of that good stuff. Be prepared to do a little work on it. Once that's out of the way you'll have a nifty little edge that will most likely outlast the owner.
This little knife brilliant. It does everything I need it to for work (prying, scraping, etc)and it comes in handy as a backup whilst out hiking. Replace the free LED with a decent one, e.g. a photon, and you'll have yourself a cracking little set up!! As always - HH fantastic customer service & delivery!
This little necker feels very classy. Thick stock, well ground edge, good sheath and a very tough black coating. Excellent back up/last ditch knife or even a useful small edc. Excellent service as always from HH.
